Ok, ok, so we are dealing with something in my house that few women experience – my hubby cannot gain weight!? Only problems a man can have, right?! He actually recently started the Body Beast program after 2 rounds of P90 X and the additional workouts are really increasing his metabolism – he’s literally hungry ALL the time!
So while he’s trying to gain weight (healthily) and I’m trying to maintain we’ve been searching for ways to enjoy similar foods but while adding a bit more into his plate!
This Kit Kat Shakeology has been a daily occurrence for about 5 days running now but I make it two totally different ways. His is with almond milk—>mine is with water. He uses 2 TBS of all natural PB—-> I use 1 TBS of PB2. He uses 1/2 a banana —> I occassionally add in 1/4 of a banana- and with these little changes his comes in around 650 calories and mine is under 300 calories. We get the both of best worlds! One amazing shake that can be both a high calorie meal replacement shake, a low calorie meal replacement shake or something in between!
Let me know if you give it a try – we both love it!!!
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Scoop Chocolate Shakeology
1-2 TBS All natural PB or PB2
10 oz of liquid – almond milk and/or combination water (milk will make it more creamy)
2 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 rice cake
1/2 banana
1 cup ice
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Add all ingredients to the blender. Crush ice for about 10 seconds and blend until smooth consistency.

You deserve to be comfortable in your body! Happy with how you feel inside and out!!! The worst thing that you can do for yourself is throw your hands up in the air and give in to the temptations all around you. So are you ready to get HOT FOR THE HOLIDAYS???
So what is a challenge pack?

So you get the fitness with a gym membership, but lack the nutrition or with something like Isogenix or weight watchers you get some form of nutrition but no fitness component.
With Beachbody you get the expertise of the trainers who have developed the fitness programs, the nutrition guide and the online tools to help you plan out your meals and snacks plus the accountability of the small group and me as your coach!! I will check in with you daily to help you create and reach your own personal goals.
Why Should I upgrade to a coach? What is the benefit? Even if you are someone who has zero interest in actively coaching other people like I do this is still a great deal. As a Beachbody Coach you get 25% off of everything you purchase. That means, Shakeology, each and every fitness program plus all of the nutritionals and supplements like Energy and Endurance, Results and Recovery, etc… So if you are someone who drinks Shakeology every day or even twice a day it makes sense to purchase it at $99 a bag instead of $130 a bag. If you drink shakeology for one year you end up saving roughly around $150.00. That is crazy!!! That is even with the $15.95 per month business service fee! Your shakeology is still cheaper!!!
So, what are you waiting for?! Do you want to change your life? Do you want to get in the best shape of your life and have a community of support to help you get there? One of my favorite things of fall is all the winter squash! Squash is easily one of my favorite veggies. But…confession time – I usually cheat and buy the cubed butternut squash from the grocery store!!! Its just so dang hard to cut those things in half! But, I had been staring at this little guy on my counter for over a week so I figured it was time to brave it! I solicited some ideas from my facebook friends on some yummy recipes and although there were quite a few impressive sounding ideas…I couldn’t pass up the grilled option given we were sitting on a very unseasonably warm late October day!
WHAT YOU NEED:
Butternut Squash
1/4 – 1/3 cup Balsamic Vinegar
2-3 TBS Honey
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Steps for making grilled butternut squash
Wash the butternut squash thoroughly
Add the balsamic vinegar to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook for about 5 minutes and add honey
Slice the squash in half so you have two even bottoms to work with and peel off the outside
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat
Cut each half into slices and then steam in a microwave safe bowl with about 1-2″ of water for 4 minutes
Grill approximately 5-6 minutes each side, depending on the thickness of your slices, brushing with honey & balsamic glaze
Enjoy!
I also think this would be good with some brown sugar or cinnamon and a little olive oil! Get creative – try something new!
Tonight I served it with grilled chicken and steamed broccoli! YUM!!!!

Ok ok…so I’ve been at this whole P90 thing for 2 weeks now and people keep asking me – “Do you like P90” or “How does this compare to 21-day fix?” or “You’ve been working out for a while now, is this program challenging enough? I thought it was for beginners” – well I’d like to share my thoughts with you…
P90 – Day 1
First things first – Do I like it?
YES! If you know me – I wouldn’t do something I didn’t like. That’s just silly – Time is precious!!! I’ve done other Tony Horton programs and struggled with being able to do the workouts without modifying them to the point that I was barely even following the DVD! My husband and I did some of P90X before our wedding years ago but I found the strength training aspect too difficult and some of the workouts were just too long. He also completed P90X3 recently I would periodically join him for a good sweat sesh and while the 30 minute workouts were appealing and I enjoyed the workouts, I still couldn’t really “complete” them. I’ve only done the workouts in P90-Series A but they’re under that 30 minute mark which fits my busy mama schedule perfectly, the 8 minute ab workout is different and challenging and to be honest – Saturday Special may be one of my favorite workouts of all the Beachbody programs I’ve done!!!
How does it compare to 21-day fix?
Well its definitely different!!! Most people know I LOVE 21-day fix. I love the variety of the workouts, I love the easy to follow meal plan, I think Autumn Calabrese is amazing and the story of how she took her leap of faith with getting this program out there is just inspiring. It was the program that got me hooked on a healthy and balanced way of living so it was hard for me to make the change – but it was time! Change is GOOD right?!?! Although I enjoyed the 7-day a week program, I was ready for a rest day, ready to work my body and my muscles differently and just ready for something new! Afterall, isn’t variety the spice of life?!?! That doesn’t mean I won’t add in a little Cardio fix here or Yoga fix there but I wanted to test out P90 for myself – so I could share with all my challengers and customers just how this program works!
So the program is designed so that you choose a sculpt or sweat schedule. I chose sweat – which means I do the Sweat A and the ab workout on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the Sculpt A workout Tuesday and Thursday with the Saturday Special on Saturday (although this last weekend I was out of town and didn’t want to skip the workout so my Friday became Saturday Special – joys of working out at home on your own schedule!!!) I like that this allows you to get comfortable and familiar with each workout! You repeat this for 4-weeks before moving on to Phase B and similarly, Phase C. So you’re not doing the same workout everyday, nor are you doing a different workout everyday but there’s enough variety to keep me interested.
Is this challenging enough for someone who has been working out for a while or this just for beginners? The answer is Yes – and No…Yes its challenging enough and No – its not JUST for beginners!
I was expecting this first phase to be easy breezy so day 1 I pushed myself and I pushed myself HARD – and you know what? I was SORE the next day. Sure enough – it worked!!! Like so many other things in life – you’re going to get out what you put in! So I put in my best and I could out the best results. I was happy to see that even after “working out for a while” this program could still benefit and challenge me! I choose to do more reps during the lifting phases, push ups at a faster rate and jump as fast as I could!!! I also LOVE how I can FINISH the entire workout and feel accomplished rather than defeated. I will say certain moves are easier than others but that is when you can up your weights and add in a little extra umph to make sure you’re getting the most out of your 30 minutes of “me” time.
So, although this is great for beginners, great for people with injuries or who may need to modify…it can also be great for anyone!!!
I hope this provides some insight and helps if you’ve been thinking – is this workout for me? If you’ve been thinking about giving this program a try (which remains on special until the end of October) or any of the Beachbody programs I’d love to talk to you! I know I wouldn’t be able to stay on track alone so after having my own success in a challenge group – I became a coach so I could run my own challenge groups and not only hold myself accountable but help others get started on their journey as well – there’s just something to be said about POWER In NUMBERS!
–> As an added bonus, Beachbody has decided to donate $5 for every challenge pack to the Wounded Warriors project in honor of Tony Horton’s dad, an avid supporter. I decided to #payitforward with Amy as my first challenger to purchase the program at the beginning of the month. Now #itsyourturn

BUSY MOM TIP: Find something that your kids enjoy and will keep them contained, so you can FOCUS. Whether its for 10 minutes, 20 minutes or gasp – a half hour! Happy, quiet kiddos results in a very produtive mama!!!
Ok so I know I’m busy, you’re busy, what mama out there isn’t “busy”?!?! The to-do list is never ending and we are always looking for a way to maximize our time and knock those items off our to-do list in the most effective way! One thing I’ve realized is it all comes down to balance. Balancing your priorities, your time, and where you need to be at each moment each day.
I had a fabulous weekend away cheering on my mom as she rocked out her first ever marathon in Baltimore but now its time to get back to the grind! The weekend away was fun, but there’s a giant pile of laundry to catch up on, things to get ready for the week ahead, grocery shopping that desperately needs taken care of and a workout that cannot be skipped…as with any fun family weekend this one as well resulted in a few extra calories ❤ All well worth it!!!
I admit, I did snooze…well I snoozed twice, but then I got up, downed my E&E and got my sweat one with a little P90! Starting my day with a workout is the best way to get up, wake up, and get on with my day!!!!
Regardless of how early I get up, I almost never get done what I need to do. Ok well, let me rephrase that. I always get done what I NEED to do but rarely everything I WANT to do! We basically came home last night and just left everything as is. So as a means to catch up around the house this morning I wanted to have something fun for the kiddos to do after breakfast that would keep them enterntained and allow me to get a few things done! Soooo…after my workout I prepped a little painting craft for the kids.
My daughter never turns down painting and let’s be honest, her little bro just wants to do whatever his big sis is doing! While I’m not quite ready to turn him lose with a paint brush and blank canvas I remembered seeing this idea on Pinterest where you put the paint in a ziplock bag and tape it down. Seemed easy enough yet I had never tried it! So while the little ones continued sleeping I got the paint brushes and paper out for Aubrie and and poured the paint into the bag. I had to prep this one before they got up because if I hadn’t I would have had two little monkeys climbing on my legs as I tried to get everything together and by the time I finished one of them would have certainly lost interest!!!
With a busy morning of gymnastics and a trip to the grocery store I knew I was limited to my freezer stock for tonight’s dinner! I pulled out one of my favorite crockpot meals – Black Bean and Corn Chicken Salsa. This is so easy…freezer to crockpot to dinner table – easy peezy!
We went on with our usual morning routine and when I offered out the paint brushes both kids were beyond excited!!! Aubrie was perfectly content for a solid 45 minutes only needing more brushes, a birdhouse and more paper to keep her satisfied! I’m not going to say it lasted quite as long as I had hoped for Colt but I got a good 15 minutes and well…15 mintutes of both kiddos content and contained meant I was able to unload the diswasher, switch over the laundry and even grab a quick call with one of my coaches – Pinterest craft = success!
I was even able to squeeze in a few more minutes of work while Colt worked hard to take every single item out of all the art table bins and Aubrie continued working on her masterpiece!
Things may have gotten a bit messy, but well, our house is usually messy! There are always toys on the floor, crumbs under the table and our toy bin is typically empty with the books spread across the floor. But secretly – I love it!!!! When Daddy walks in the door with the response” Wow, looks like you guys had fun today” you know it was a successful day! We had playtime, art time, story time, a successful trip to the grocery store (thank you Giant Eagle for inventing the Eagles Nest) and we all got done what NEEDed to get done! Finding that balance is an ongoing task but one I will continue to work towards perfection!
So I made the nutty shakeology no bakes a while ago and thought they were a great alternative to regular cookies. I took them to a family reunion and people were amazed to see that they were all natural “healthy” cookies. So when my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday I quickly responded with the no bake cookies! I’ll admit – my mom got to my house late in the evening and I quickly ate 4 cookies. I couldn’t believe how delicious they were – so much better than mine!!! I thought it was just because my mom made them but nope – she did something differently – she melted the PB and honey first and she did half chocolate and half vanilla shakeo – and oooooooo what a difference!!! I’m not sure if its a good thing yet or bad thing because I cannot stop eating them but I feel obligated to share!
I was even able to return the favor and as my mom prepped for her first marathon this past weekend I asked her what I could provide to help her – and of course she wanted the no bakes!!! I was happy to hear these little bites help provide her energy as she powered through her 26.2 miles! I still don’t think they were as good as my moms…but they did the trick!
Black and White Shakeology No Bakes
(Makes 30-32 servings, 1 Cookie each)
Total Time: 15 min
Prep Time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Scoop Chocolate Shakeology
1 Scoop Vanilla Shakeology
1 cup all natural peanut butter
1/2 cup peanuts
1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup honey
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
MELT PEANUT BUTTER AND HONEY IN A MEDIUM SAUCEPAN.
AND SHAKEOLOGY THEN OATS AND MIX WELL WITH A RUBBER SPATULA OR WOODEN SPOON.
SCOOP MIXTURE INTO 1-INCH SIZE BALLS (I FOUND THE PAMPERED CHEF SMALL COOKIE SCOOP TO BE A HUGE TIME SAVER HERE).
FLATTEN EACH BALL SLIGHTLY SO THAT IT IS SHAPED LIKE A TRADITIONAL COOKIE. AND THAT’S IT!
ENJOY 🙂
Optional: Roll cookie in crushed nuts, whole-grain graham cracker crumbs, or unsweetened coconut flakes
My advice – keep these in the freezer! This way you have to pull them out and let them sit for a few minutes before eating. It may help reduce eating them all at once!!!

Its Friday…you’ve worked hard all week, you’ve been diligent with your workouts and as you look ahead to the weekend you note: Happy Hour Friday, a busy day of soccer games and errand running Saturday followed by your best friends surprise birthday party, and a family get together on Sunday…how do you make sure you don’t undo all that hard work you just put in the 5 days prior?
Here’s my tips:
1. Treat weekend like weekday! This may seem silly – but its so important! Take advantage of the “extra” time you have during the weekend and put it to good use! What exactly do I mean?
Get up at the same time you usually do
Get your workout in as early as possible
Eat the same foods you usually eat
Plan out all of your meals and snacks – even if you’re going to be home. This will reduce temptations to grab and go or mindlessly snack
2. Schedule in your one weekly cheat meal over the weekend. This can be at home with your family, entertaining friends or out to eat. If you know you’ll be eating out at least once over the weekend this is always a good place for your off meal/cheat meal. Be sure to stick to you plans and goals all week and the enjoy something special! If you don’t take that time to enjoy the little things eventually you’ll just cave! Just make sure its one meal and not a cheat day!!! And don’t go overboard on the portions. The meal itself may be something different from the typical foods you eat but that doesn’t mean you hit your daily caloric goal in big sitting! Be sensible. If you go out to eat, order sensible portions, take half home and/or skip at least the app or dessert-don’t get both!!! If you want alcohol, really enjoy one or two drinks-not 5!
3. Pack snacks and take a cooler!!! You don’t want to lean back on the excuse that you just didn’t have any healthy options available – be prepared!!! You want to balance a complex carb and protein to help keep you fuller – longer!
4. Drink your shake! Okay okay, but seriously – don’t skip it! I find when I drink my shake first thing, in general, I made better decisions the rest of the day! If you’re a big breakfast eater and want to take advantage of the extra time you have over the weekend maybe you do breakfast for dinner! Just make sure you fuel your body…whether its to curb those cravings, give you energy or just in general to provide you with all the nutrients you need in a day – just drink it!!
5. Take water with you if you’re not going to be home – and LOTS of it! Thirst is often confused for hunger and if you are not properly hydrated you may find yourself snacking endlessly when really it could have all been avoided with a big chug chug chug-a-lug. Here’s some additional tips on HOW TO DRINK MORE WATER.
6. If you have a get together with friends-bring something you know you will eat! My Southwest Quinoa Salad is always a hit! If you’re the one hosting, you have complete control of the main meal! I’ve done Fish and Shrimp tacos several times – its clean, healthy, and people can make it their own style with various add ons so its sure to be a crowd pleaser! You don’t want to be the person serving raw veggies and some plain grilled chicken all the time but healthy eating isn’t boring eating! You just have to find ways to mix it up and make it more enjoyable for everyone. Don’t be afraid to let others know what changes you’ve made…you’re making changes so you can be healthier-be proud 🙂
7. If you’re heading to party – remember what you’re there to celebrate! The purpose is not to see who can eat the most cookies or the biggest piece of cake! The purpose is to get together with friends or family and catch up, enjoy each other’s company, watch the kiddos play, etc… So do that! If you’re not sure what is going to be available for food, plan your shake before you leave or on the way. This way you’re not “starving” when you arrive which could lead into over eating and poor food choices!!
8. Take some time and meal plan/prep for the following week. Farmers markets are a great way to stock up on local produce, get it washed, portioned and/or cooked. This will make the weeknights a bit easier!
9. Do something to relax – or destress – relaxation goes a long way!

I am so excited I may be having my own little dance party in the living room!!! I am down to less than $2000 in student loans and I will be DONE by the end of the year – mark my words!!! To some this may seem like a lot and to some this may seem like no big deal…but this is so huge for me!!! Kyle and I have never been a “my money/your money” family. What’s mine is his and what’s his is mine-from the beginning! So when we made the decision that I would not return to work after having Colt there was never that thought that I wasn’t going to have my own $$$. The only thing that bothered me was that I wasn’t going to be paying off MY student loans. I took overload courses and summer school every year so I could get my double major in the shortest amount of time and minimize the money I had to borrow. I did my best to pay for as much of my schooling as I went…I waitressed 4-5 days a week for all 4 years, I tutored for 3 of the 4 years and I was pretty good with my money but I still managed to leave there with a pretty LARGE chunk of debt. I got a great job after college but it was still difficult to pay much more than the minimum payment. Once I left KPMG, I didn’t like that I was no longer “making” money to pay off my school loans. However I wasn’t willing to give up my stay at home mom life either – so on with life we went!
Enter beachbody coaching 7 months ago… I started sharing what I was doing with others and what started as a thought of something very small to maybe help out some of my close friends and family and maybe cover my own cost of Shakeology compounded into so much more!! Soon enough I set my next financial goal – To pay off my loans by my one year anniversary date. Still perhaps a bit of a stretch – but it was my goal. Fast forward a little bit further and I switched that date to the end of the 2014 – nearly 4 years early – and I know with continued hard work and consistency I CAN DO THIS!!!
Why am I telling you this? Its not to brag in any way! Its to share with you an OPPORTUNITY that has forever changed my life!!! This opportunity has given me a way to help others reach their health and fitness goals while supporting my family and still staying at home with my little ones! An amazing blessing! The best part…YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!! My team will be holding an informational call tomorrow night at 9:00 and a 5-day sneak peak into coaching next week where you will not only see how this has changed my life – but so many others around me.
Who knew you could make a living being fit and healthy and helping others do the same?!?!?!
Join our team call with no obligation! Send me an email at maeganblinka@gmail.com and I’ll be sure to send you the link!!!
AND I strive to eat as clean as possible…I eat less CRAP:
But you know what?!?! I absolutely LOVE chocolate. And I LOVE peanut butter. And oh my put them together and WATCH OUT!
Thing is…I also like to be fit and healthy. When I eat clean I feel good. And when I feel good I am more confident. When I am confident I am happier all around so…how do I manage to stay on track?! I sweat daily and absolutely love finding ways to satisfy MY sweet tooth cravings and not undoing all the hard work I put in!
As my hubby and I sat around Saturday night we were looking for a sweet treat. Something new, something different, and preferably something that combines chocolate and peanut butter!! So many of the recipes we found were loaded with sugar and that’s just not our style!
Kyle came across this recipe and I knew we had to give it a try.
My personal take on these: They don't "taste" like a traditional, artificial ingredient filled candy bar...but they are delicious! You can definitely taste a int of coconut from the oil and I think they would be more peanut buttery if you used all natural peanut butter rather than PB2...however for a 64 calorie treat, these can't be beat!

I may be slightly obsessed with avocados…however if there is one thing to be obsessed with I think I picked a pretty good guilty pleasure!
I’ve made this meal in multiple variations for myself, my hubby and my extended family on so many different occasions and no one ever complains!! Simple, fresh and healthy – what can go wrong???
Ingredients:
1/4 avocado
1 hard boiled egg
4 oz grilled chicken cut into cubes or shredded/rotisserie chicken
splash of lemon juice
Spinach
Corn tortillas (optional)
Mix and mash all ingredients. Eat alone or serve on a bed of spinach, in a corn or whole wheat tortilla or with tortilla chips! No matter which way you do it enjoy it – its amazing!
