Amongst the March Madness

It was 3 years ago today that I ***GULP*** made it public and launched my “coaching business” to the world 🌎

I made a public post on social media INVITING my friends and family and followers to join me in this journey…a journey that was shaping and impacting my life in ways I never imagined but absolutely LOVED at the same time!!!

It was a request to commit to:

The accountability of a challenge group.
To replace one meal a day with Shakeology.
And too follow a fitness program…and to track/document/see how it could IMPACT them!

It started with one person.
Then the next month two.
Then the next month more and more…

And as I continuously SHARED what I was doing and the pride I had sharing my experiences with other women-and other moms-it began to grow.

As of today, I have had the honor of helping hundreds of people get started on their health and fitness journey and while I’m humbled to share that — I know it’s just a small dent in what I am capable of.

Finding balance amongst the madness isn’t always easy but that’s where I come in!!!

Planning my 4th and final PIYO week

I firmly believe in starting and finishing a workout program but I will quickly admit I have a bit of a workout program ADD.

So to adjust for my own balance I’ve been doing 4 week programs. Its enough for me to find my groove, keep some variety and then move on when I get too “comfortable” with the workouts. This is where the On Demand All Access is CLUTCH!!!

I completed the Masters Chisel program January/February (although my mono/bronchitis/ear infection issues caused the 4 weeks to span almost 7…) and I am in week 4 of 4 with PIYO with Core de Force up next as I countdown to our upcoming vacay to Punta Cana in April!

Here’s the workout outline and meal plan for this week

As you can see…I EAT with this plan…but its about the portions and frequency. I find having 5 smaller meals throughout the day keeps me consistently full and never STARVING nor over stuffed!

I do have some visitors this week which made having a PLAN ever more important.

And that’s exactly what this is – my GAME PLAN for the week. Can it change? Sure. And maybe we’ll swap the chicken and roast or my lunch one of the days but having a plan helps me get my groceries, waste less, and think less when dinner time rolls around!!!

I cook most food in bulk allowing for multiple meals and/or lunches.

Sunday I take some time to prep/chop/portion and do as much as I can.

For example – my peppers are chopped for my eggs, my berries are in one cup containers, the Turkey chili was prepped today, and the roast is already thawing in the crockpot along with a bag of carrots, potatoes and an onion so tomorrow I just pull from the fridge and plug in!

Maybe the cauliflower mash will be fried cauliflower. Turkey chili could easily be swapped for stuffed peppers…but again…its the PLAN that matters.

If you’re not used to meal planning or eating small frequent meals or eating “healthy” – it can be a challenge.

As a coach I provide support and accountability to my clients to not just get STARTED but make a plan and EXECUTE it as it becomes a habit. Change is never easy but as someone who has been on both sides of this equation I can tell you..CHANGE is WORTH it.

Fast and Simple Cauliflower Rice

Need a simple side dish but trying to avoid going carb crazy?!


We are LOVING cauliflower fried rice but I do believe there are good approaches to this simple little dish and not so good!

My best tip: KEEP IT SIMPLE!

Here’s what we found to rock our world:


  • 3 cups riced cauliflower
  • 1 TBS coconut oil
  • 2 TBS slivered almonds
  • 2 TBS fresh parsley


  1. Heat coconut oil over medium high heat
  2. When hot, add riced cauliflower and sauté for 5-7 minutes or until it reaches your desired tenderness (note the color of the cauliflower will change slightly as it cooks…I used that as a guide!)
  3. Top with the almonds and parsley and SERVE & ENJOY!


Note: We paired this with meatloaf for a classic, home cooked combo that warmed the tummy but didn’t grow the waistline!!!

An amputee’s journey to CONFIDENCE

I first connected with Cheryl in December 2014.

A then random connection on social media – turned into a challenger in my challenge groups – turned into one of the most INSPIRATIONAL women I’ve ever met.

Cheryl has had an incredible journey and I am honored to share it today…

In November 2012 her right arm was amputated and miraculously saved and replanted. She has no bicep, 1/2 a tricep and limited use of her hand. She had lost 60 pounds and then started having surgeries again and gained 40 back.

She is someone who enjoys exercise but needed help to get going again. That’s where I came in!!!

She knew she couldn’t always do all the moves of all the programs but she was willing to get STARTED – TRY – and use the nutrition program and daily Shakeology to fuel her body.

She had struggled with emotional eating but found exercise fills that need and she began to THRIVE…

“I’m Cheryl and have been participating in Maegan’s challenge groups for over a year. She asked me to share how participating in the groups have impacted my life.

First off, I was embarrassed about how I looked and where I let myself get to. That’s what was the catalyst for me reaching out to Maegan.

So I joined a challenge group and started drinking shakeology. I swallowed my pride and become vulnerable to the process she introduced me to and when I did I was received without judgement and got support ….. REAL support!

Daily atta girls when I checked in and posted. When I stumbled I received input on how to accept my slip and make it better next time…… tools for my continued success. I realized TOGETHER we are strong!

74 pounds later I can say I’m proof!

I’m off the insulin, the blood pressure meds, the anxiety and depression meds….I’m HEALTHY, HAPPY and have met some amazing, supportive women who have my back….. all I had to do was get over myself and honestly give the process a chance.

“I’m Jen and I’ve struggled with weight my entire life. I did the yo-yo diets and even lost 90lbs unhealthily. I had a baby (now 12) and got married. Life was great. My life spiraled out of control February 8th 2008, I gained 100lbs shortly after my husband died. I lost my house, job and myself. Food and being lazy were my world!
I’ve tried losing weight no success I gained more. My boyfriend’s co-workers sister-in-law told me about BB and Shakeology, she said could help me get what I wanted. On September 2014 I joined my first challenge group, 21 Day fix I believe that’s when I was introduced to Maegan. I wasn’t sure what to expect. As of today I’ve lost 73lbs, it’s a slow process for me due to my feet, hips and back not cooperating. Someone wise (my daughter) told me that slow and steady wins the race. I’m 25lbs from my goal weight, I’m able to do real push-ups and have a heart full of inspiration.”

  • I was not a fitness expert and I’m still not.

Behind the scenes of a Challenge group

I am so excited to kick off my first ever “What is a Challenge Group – LIVE LOOK” – closed accountability group on Facebook!


I am coming up on my 3 year anniversary of participating and then hosting online Fitness challenges and I can tell you first hand it has spoken VOLUMES in my personal Health & Wellness journey. I honestly don’t know where I would be if I had stopped after that first round of the 21-day fix back in 2014…or heck even after a year. ACCOUNTABILITY IS KEY!

I was able to get to the point where I could carve out that 30 minute and time for myself – but controlling what was on my plate – going in my body -the other 23.5 hours of the day is where I realized THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.

But here’s the deal: when you surround yourself with others with similar goals – and struggles and strengths and weaknesses you learn to FALL DOWN – AND – GET BACK UP…TOGETHER!

And this is what I want to show people through this group!!!

The same key aspects that I teach in my full accountability groups will be introduced in this group as well!



Each participant will enroll in a trial membership of the Beachbody Club which provides online STREAMING to HUNDREDS of workouts!

I think its safe to say we are ALL BUSY:

We are all BUSY – but learning how to effectively PLAN out and PREPARE for the week ahead is CLUTCH!

And the final piece comes in ACTIONS and less words.


Its the accountability – knowing that there is a group of other people right there along side you – learning as you go – trying, failing, and moving forward.

Its hard to explain it to you-but I can SHOW you first hand the power it holds!

What is a Challenge Group: Live Look

Time Hop reminded me that around this same time – 3 Years ago today I was asking for prayers as we were rushed to Children’s Hospital holding tightly to VERY sick little boy.


Now: You may be thinking: Soooooo: What does this have in common with the title “What is a Challenge Group: Live Look” – keep reading – there’s a connection I PROMISE!

That day was a WHIRLWIND!

Colt’s deteriorating health was dismissed as “a bad cold” before we got in to see HIS doctor the following day who quickly sent us by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh to ensure he got the best care.

We received his diagnosis: Pneomonia, double ear infection, bronchiolitis, and very high fevers.

We spent two tiring nights there and while my little man attempted to get comfortable and rest I simply watched him.

Sleep just wasn’t happening for me and eventually when he settled I grabbed the phone for a mindless midnight scroll.

And there it was…

And, well my SCROLL – STOPPED ✋️✋️✋️


It wasn’t about the image as much as I RELATED to it!

Something HIT ME. I was watching the importance of GOOD HEALTH – first hand.

I NEEDED to make a change.

And well, the rest is HISTORY!


Honestly – I can’t seem to think: What if we never had that scary experience…would I have seen things differently?

Would I have ever caught a glimpse of that simple post?

It was JUST a challenge group – at the time – but what I learned in that group became a pivotal point in my life!

And its something I want to share with YOU!
