Discovering this business opened my eyes to the best of both worlds giving me FREEDOM to be the mom I dreamed of being while maintaining my financial independence and living my life on my own terms.

This plan is not about deprivation or cutting carbs or eating high fat or following a trend…
This plan is about LISTENING to how my BODY reacts to different foods. In the last two weeks I have lost 3 pounds. But you know what – that doesn’t hold a THING to what I’ve gained.
-Strength to understand when I am eating for fuel vs. eating for boredom
-The sense to prioritize SLEEP and to give myself some GRACE #ImHumanToo

We are traveling to visit family on Thanksgiving day and will enjoy some gatherings and I will no doubt be out of my routine.
But while there are things I cannot control – there are things I CAN control.
I’ve already prepackaged my vegan superfoods – combined with digestive health boost (c’mon my traveling friends, you know this is needed) and the power greens boost, because well not much of Thanksgiving dinner screams GREEN. But I want to make sure I am still getting my nutrition in…PROBLEM SOLVED.
I will choose the foods I LOVE and let the others be.
I may enjoy a sweet treat, if I’m feeling it.
Perhaps I’ll sip a glass of wine.
Time will tell
But I will tell you I will not feel like I am stuck on a DIET, I will choose and do what’s best for me and I couldn’t task for a better sense of satisfaction in my own skin.
I mentioned last week I was starting Intermittent Fasting and after 7 straight days of it I am happy to say I DIG THIS STYLE!
When I first heard of the idea of “fasting” for a portion of the day and not immediately eating post-workout I got a little nervous. I didn’t THINK it would be in the cards for me but honestly when I broke it down it ended up making my mornings EASIER.
Typical morning:
I would wake up,
Drink my energize,
Workout,
Get showered and ready,
And amongst getting the two minions up, fed, dressed, ready for school and out the door I would shovel something in or sip my shake during the crazy.
Now – I just get all that done and when I come HOME I make my shake and enjoy my breakfast.
Here are some of the fabulous meals I enjoyed last week!
I’ve been generally fasting for 16 hours with an 8 hour eating “window”
Here’s an example of what my day looks like:
Sleep 10:30 – 5:30
5:30 Wake up, down energize, workout @ 6
9:30-10:30 Break – the – Fast
12:30ish – Lunch
2:30ish – Snack
5:30 – 6:30 Dinner
There are two main things I’ve noticed:
I am no longer sneaking a bite of the pancake or soggy cereal that the kids leave behind – nor their fruits and veggies that I would normally think of as “freebies” – #IamNotAGarbageCan #LessonLearned
I am not mindlessly snacking late into the evening
Those two little things are going a LONG way!!!

And so many more MOMENTS…came together to make up a recent 5-day trip I took to Orlando. It was a trip for me to be with my coach – the one that shared her life so graciously on social media and allowed ME to discover THIS life changing opportunity – and a trip for me to be with my leaders as well – to thank them and spoil them and teach them so that one day they are doing the same for their teams!
It was a TEAM retreat for the record books no doubt…but WHY?
Why are these things SO KEY and such a HUGE driver for me to host and my team to attend?
As coaches we have the opportunity to build an EMPIRE without ever leaving home.
A DREAM come true to this former, stay at home mom who needed to find herself after babies!
And whether you have little ones and a desire to be home with them or simply a desire to travel more or work on your own terms or simply live beyond the nontraditional 9-5 this business has the ability to be a BLESSING beyond words.
Sometimes building a business behind a computer screen can be a little lonley and you the peer to peer interaction is what you need to jazz it up.
We have larger events like Summit and the Success Club trips that allow us to come together and quarterly Super Saturdays to see local area coaches but the annual team RETREAT allows a time to be together as ONE TEAM UNITED and I truly cannot put into words the IMPACT this even has on my business.
I remember watching my coach go on her team retreat before I started thinking REALLY – that many girls in one place who are VOLUNTARILY spending the weekend together?!?!
I didn’t get…until I became a part of it. The unity. The community. THE FAMILY.
It never is about comparison and there are no secrets. We are simply EMPOWERING one another to be the best mom/wife/friend/sister and coach all rolled into one. We share tips and ideas, life events and stories and motivation one another on all aspects of the business and just plain old LIFE!
I have learned that when you pour into yourself for a little bit you then have the ability to POUR MORE into others and this trip while seemed like it came at the most crazy time in my life – I now realize it came at the time I – WE – needed it most.
I don’t know many jobs – careers – that are built upon a CULTURE that encourages other women to empower other women and provides an environment for you to SIMPLY BE YOU and your income is a direct result of the IMPACT you make but my goodness I sure am glad I found it!
But this I ensure you –
Behind the stock pile of selfies, and group photo shots, and pretty meals, and smiles and laughs…is WORK.
We work HARD because our work matters.
We work HARD because we KNOW we have something SPECIAL.
We work HARD because every time we SHARE what we do we have the opportunity to pay it forward and help others the same way this business has blessed us.
I got started as a coach because I NEEDED it emotionally AND physically and I knew there HAD to be other women suffering the way I was and I held that power in my hand to help them. And here I stand today not just doing that – but helping OTHER build their empires too.

Do you take a multi vitamin? If I drink Shakeology daily do I “need” one? What’s the difference between vegan and regular Shakeology?
I get these questions a lot.
So to make things easier for you (and me!) I summed it all up here for you!
First things first: Do I take a multi vitamin?
Today? Yes. When I first started? No.
Let me explain…
I still remember the JOY I had when I started drinking Shakeology 3.5 years ago and could DITCH my costly prenatal vitamins. It was truly JOYFUL.
I didn’t actually LIKE taking them and could never remember to get my prescription filled, but as a nursing mama I was committed to giving my body what it needed and I knew my growing babe needed the nutrients.
When I cross referenced my prenatal to the nutrition facts of my chocolate Shakeology they were in LINE. I talked to my Doctor and we agreed that with Shakeology daily, an additional vitamin wasn’t necessary. I added a DHA supplement and was set – #winning
Fast forward a few years and as I approached 30, I developed an unwanted dairy allergy. I tried to ignore it for a bit but it wasn’t going anywhere!!!
My skin was breaking out and I was constantly bloated. When I finally made the decision to go dairy free I knew I had to make a change with my daily superfoods.
So without a second thought I swapped out my daily whey-based Shakeology for the plant-based vegan option – easy breezy!
And much to my misunderstanding – I thought the ONLY difference between the vegan and regular was the whey protein vs. pea/quinoa protein. #wrong
But as I made the switch from regular chocolate to vegan chocolate and then vegan vanilla many of my challengers and team members followed suit.
And before long I was asked: WHY DO THE VITAMIN CONTENTS ON THE BAG OF VEGAN DIFFER FROM THE REGULAR?
Hmmm great question. I honestly NEVER even noticed.
I had to do some research on this one…
Big picture – both varieties are formulated from a combination of over 70 superfoods that work TOGETHER to give you the healthiest meal in a CUP!
The Whey blends (regular) of Shakeology have been fortified with added vitamins and minerals to help support health and vitality.
The Vegan Shakeology blends include a variety of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. But because they are derived exclusively from the ingredients in Shakeology and are not fortified with added vitamins and minerals, these amounts of vitamins and minerals will vary naturally from batch to batch. For this reason, the amounts of all vitamins and minerals are not specified on the Vegan Shakeology labels.
So both still amazingly nutritious – however you just can’t be QUITE so sure on the exact amounts of some vitamins.
Soooo how do I NOW- bridge that gap?
ENTER ACTIVIT!
Activit is a daily multivitamin packed with 22 vitamins and minerals and extra ingredients to enhance your results from regular fitness training.
To be honest I thought it was just a multivitamin to take if you DIDN’T use Shakeology regularly.
But what its done for me is fill a nutritional gap that I had when I started drinking vegan!
Activit also has quercetin which helps with energy with the B vitamins in the most bioavailable forms! And I mean, who doesn’t need MORE energy?!
The vegan shakeology doesn’t have Biotin added like the whey-based shakeology does so I’ve also been getting my biotin here in my Activit instead of another supplement and I think its safe to say the nails speak for themselves!
And for those who have the MTHFR mutations (like some of my challengers!!!) – this vitamin includes methylated folate!
So because the vegan Shakeology is not fortified with extras – I have combined my daily activit with my daily Shakeology for my own optimal health!

Amongst the usual birthday parties, new sporting teams, etc…and the routine slips…then
“One dinner out won’t hurt”
“One splurge to celebrate with some fro-yo isn’t the end of the world”
“I won’t meal plan this week, we’ll just wing it”
“A few margaritas just this once won’t make a difference”
The list continues…
And while my goal is to remain in BALANCE in my health and nutrition there comes a time when the scale tips just a little off center…
Needless to say the lack of a summer ROUTINE allowed my nutrition follow suit as the summer days came to a close and on Labor Day we hit the tipping point.
We enjoyed the good food with good friends and had a good time but I was feeling the impact of those not-so-normal food choices! The dip in my energy and trouble keeping my hand out of the cookie jar led me to back to ‘Old Faithful: 3 Day Refresh
Because YES – while I do aim to eat 90% gluten free/dairy free & at least 80% CLEAN (if not more)…sometimes I fall into old habits too! #DidSomeoneSayCereal?
But I have learned this is part of the journey…the key to ongoing PROGRESS & SUCCESS is to keep moving forward and simply JUMP RIGHT BACK in where you left off!
I spent the first part of last week doing a 3-Day plant based cleanse which allowed me to break that sugar cycle, ditch the reliance on starchy carbs and get back to my grain free/dairy free meal plan that I’ve learned WORKS FOR ME!

And with my trusty 3-Day Refresh, a few fellow challengers to help me stay accountable and a reminder that: I CAN DO HARD THINGS…I was able to drop 3 pounds of BLOAT and get my groove back!
I don’t do these OFTEN but when my body needs to detox and cleanse I can feel it – I listen to it – and I never regret the sacrifices to FEEL good again!!! I have found quarterly tends to work best for me!!

Although we will be traveling this weekend I will pack my shakeology so I know I can stay on track with that and I will make smart choices. The plus side is we are visiting my family who tends to live out a health balance like us so HOPEFULLY we’ll all stay on track TOGETHER!!!

A teacher?

I’ll be honest I didn’t have that ONE thing but I knew that I wanted to be SUCCESSFUL and figured I’d rock a fancy suit on the top floor of some big fancy building in NYC with a corner office!
I had a strong work ethic from the days of weekend babysitting as a 12 year old through double jobs in college through landing my big girl career in public accounting.
But then the unthinkable happened:
I. BECAME. A. MOM.
And guess what?
That office on the top floor was not important anymore.
I wanted TIME at home with my daughter.
And after working away her first two years we made the family choice to become a single family home after the arrival of our little guy.
It was hard.
The adjustment to SAHM life was hard.
I missed my independence
And did I mention being a SAHM was hard?
But then the unthinkable happened again and A NEW DOOR opened.
This new door was going to give me the opportunity to live in the best of both worlds.
To have some independence back but to still be MOM.

I left the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana yesterday with a relaxed mind and grateful heart.
This was the THIRD Success Club trip my husband and I have earned since becoming a coach 3 years ago but each one provides a gentle reminder of how grateful I am that just 3 short years ago I followed my gut feeling – became a coach – instilled BELIEF in myself and JUST JUMPED! And we have truly NEVER looked back!
Big picture – we EARNED this trip because of the success my coaching business achieved in 2016 for HELPING other PEOPLE reach THEIR health and fitness GOALS.
What started as a way to get a discount on my Shakeology grew to sharing this opportunity with my close friends and family and has transpired into helping HUNDREDS of women & families all around the US and Canada and I’m no where near finished.
I’ve been going on 3 trips annually through coaching – one in each the Spring, Summer and Fall.
The fall one which is earned and geared towards leadership.
The summer one is our Coach Summit & open to all coaches
And this one in the Spring is earned and limited to a select number of coaches.
While each have their own purpose and involve a combo of work and play this one is really geared towards celebrating your own successes and mingling with other coaches. And that is just what we did!
Our 5 days included a mix of US time and TEAM time and NETWORKING time. All with their own defined purpose and enjoyed to no end!
The one thing I never realized I was getting when I joined this business was the FAMILY you become a part of.
I love our team culture and the women I have grown to know, love and vacation with!
We enjoyed lots of time by the pool, listening to the waves crash, cruising the open waters on a Catamaran and mingling with our friends at the welcome and closing ceremonies.
But let’s be real – you can’t have a Team Beachbody trip without some killer workout sessions!
Both Autumn Calabrese & our brand new super trainer, Chris Downing joined us here on this trip and led group workouts each morning.
Autumn did a variety of workouts from her programs, 21-day Fix & Hammer & Chisel and Chris gave us some sneak peeks into the new program coming soon – SHIFT SHOP.
I love all live workouts but the fact that I get to participate in the EXCLUSIVE test group starting May 8th and get to complete it before it available to public drew my focus and excitement through the roof.
His style is so incredibly MOTIVATING and well, the workouts make you WORK! They’re different and all moves include a modifier so they really appeal to a large audience!!!
I can already tell that this program is going to take the fitness world by STORM this summer and I cannot wait to share my results as I progress through!

And just like at home, we were able to wrap up the workout sessions with our superfood shakeo – stationed all over the lobby after each workout!
This trips are always a great reminder to follow your heart and live your life doing something you LOVE. I love what I do and who I do it for and I truly cannot imagine what my life would look like today – If I hadn’t decided to take this road less traveled, join an MLM business and become my own CEO.

We didn’t just get a LIVE 22 Minute Hard Corps workout but we got TONY – raw, unfiltered, and sharing HIS story – past, present and where he’s going – where Team Beachbody is taking him/us – in the future.
It was the perfect way to kick off an incredible event and I was blessed to have several of my team members with me!
I love the fact that I have the opportunity to build my business ONLINE – at my convenience and with the freedom and flexibility of MOMprenuer life…but gosh nothing beats getting to see all these incredible ladies IN PERSON!

The SHIFT SHOP is the first Beachbody program from our newest Super Trainer, Chris Downing. He’s an elite functional fitness trainer who specializes in helping anyone — regardless of weight, size, or age — get into amazing shape fast.
The SHIFT SHOP is a ramp-up fitness program. Chris makes it easy for you to start. Then he gradually increases the intensity of the cardio and strength-training workouts week by week — all while refining your nutrition. Plus, he makes it a lot of fun.
Week 1, Chris uses shorter, 25-minute workouts that’ll help you stay focused and committed. And you’ll be eating a healthy balance of carbs, protein, and fat.
Week 2, just as your body adapts to the workouts, Chris increases their length to 35 minutes. Plus, you’ll cut back on the starchy carbs, while revving up the proteins and veggies.
Week 3, it all comes together. Seven days of higher-intensity workouts, while eating clean. This is your grand finale.
And there’s even a modifier you can follow, so you can always get through all the moves, and still get a great workout.

Words cannot explain how amazing it was to be at this event and reflect on what has changed in my life as a result of joining Beachbody just one year ago!!! From someone sitting in the audience with an open mind simply learning 3 years ago – to someone who is able to take the stage and share and spread the word about a comapny with such an INCREDIBLE mission…it just never gets old!!! Its an incredible feeling to have MY OWN team members travel to make the trip and to just be a part of something so big and so powerful… and I am forever grateful!

On a recent trip through downtown, as we approached the noteworthy views of the Pittsburgh city skyline my daughter exclaimed “Look mommy your old work building” – and she turned to Colt and shared “Mommy used to work there but she didn’t get to see me very much”
And while that comment half tugged at my heart strings and left me filled with guilt – because I did in fact MISS the majority of her first two years of life – it also was a gentle reminder…to give gratitude that many years ago – I followed my heart.
I left my career behind with no back up plan so I could be a more present mom than I had been the two years prior and a just a year after that found this opportunity.
I didn’t realize it then but looking back I now BELIEVE this opportunity was INTENTIONALLY placed in front of me because this is where I am meant to be.
I was a working mom THEN and I am a working mom NOW…but its different.
The career of coaching was never something I sought.
I had no idea the term “network marketing company” even existed but that’s what I joined…I signed up and I have never looked back.
3 years in – and I am leading a top team in the entire COMPANY – grateful that I followed my heart.
I ditched the desk job and took the road less traveled.
I traded in my suit pants for yoga pants.
And while my rise and grind time still starts at 5am – my days look much different than they did a few years ago.
It has taken many late nights and early mornings but I designed the life I love…
A life that led me to find a NEW FOUND passion in life
A life that allows me to continuously help others while always working on becoming a better version of myself
And a life that allows me to be PRESENT in the lives my family – of my children and with my husband.
I realize that this job isn’t for everyone but I learned a few years ago – that this glass slipper, or shall I say nike – FITS…so we roll with it.
