We have officially kicked off week 3 off our 30 day Elimination plan and while YES it is at the beginning of a Holiday week here (hello Thanksgiving) and YES I will enjoy a few fall favorites – NO – I don’t feel like I’m “cheating” or “splurging” – I’m simply living a life in BALANCE and that feeling my friends is INCREDIBLE.

THAT is what this plan is about for me!

Soooo – how could eating pumpkin cookies and some southern dressing (that’s like stuffing to us northern peeps) on Thanksgiving day be IN LINE with my 30 day elimination plan?

Because this plan is made up of a set of rules – That I SET – based on things I have noticed and how they IMPACT ME!

This plan is not about deprivation or cutting carbs or eating high fat or following a trend…

Elimination plan 2 week results

This plan is about LISTENING to how my BODY reacts to different foods. In the last two weeks I have lost 3 pounds. But you know what – that doesn’t hold a THING to what I’ve gained.

  • -Strength to understand when I am eating for fuel vs. eating for boredom
  • -The sense to prioritize SLEEP and to give myself some GRACE #ImHumanToo
  • -The realization that I do not need sugar to enjoy life #15daysnoCookies #ThatsARecord #IfIWantOneIWillHaveOne
  • Turkey Chili and Taco Tuesday are just as good without the cheese or tortilla chips
  • The courage to try new things, journal how they go, and course correct as needed
  • Understanding sometimes you have to EAT MORE to get MORE RESULTS

And I couldn’t have done it without the help of my FitFam ❤

We are traveling to visit family on Thanksgiving day and will enjoy some gatherings and I will no doubt be out of my routine.

But while there are things I cannot control – there are things I CAN control.
I’ve already prepackaged my vegan superfoods – combined with digestive health boost (c’mon my traveling friends, you know this is needed) and the power greens boost, because well not much of Thanksgiving dinner screams GREEN. But I want to make sure I am still getting my nutrition in…PROBLEM SOLVED.

I will choose the foods I LOVE and let the others be.
I may enjoy a sweet treat, if I’m feeling it.
Perhaps I’ll sip a glass of wine.
Time will tell

But I will tell you I will not feel like I am stuck on a DIET, I will choose and do what’s best for me and I couldn’t task for a better sense of satisfaction in my own skin.

I mentioned last week I was starting Intermittent Fasting and after 7 straight days of it I am happy to say I DIG THIS STYLE!

When I first heard of the idea of “fasting” for a portion of the day and not immediately eating post-workout I got a little nervous. I didn’t THINK it would be in the cards for me but honestly when I broke it down it ended up making my mornings EASIER.

Typical morning:

  • I would wake up,
  • Drink my energize,
  • Workout,
  • Get showered and ready,
  • And amongst getting the two minions up, fed, dressed, ready for school and out the door I would shovel something in or sip my shake during the crazy.

Now – I just get all that done and when I come HOME I make my shake and enjoy my breakfast.

Here are some of the fabulous meals I enjoyed last week!

Elimination plan meals
I’ve been generally fasting for 16 hours with an 8 hour eating “window”

Here’s an example of what my day looks like:

  • Sleep 10:30 – 5:30
  • 5:30 Wake up, down energize, workout @ 6
  • 9:30-10:30 Break – the – Fast
  • 12:30ish – Lunch
  • 2:30ish – Snack
  • 5:30 – 6:30 Dinner

There are two main things I’ve noticed:

  1. I am no longer sneaking a bite of the pancake or soggy cereal that the kids leave behind – nor their fruits and veggies that I would normally think of as “freebies” – #IamNotAGarbageCan #LessonLearned
  2. I am not mindlessly snacking late into the evening

Those two little things are going a LONG way!!!

Spicy Bacon Egg bake

What you need:
  • 12 eggs
  • 2 slices of bacon, cooked, broke into tiny pieces
  • 3 cups chopped spinach
  • 2.5 cups red peppers, chopped
  • 1/2  onion, diced
  • 1 jalopeno, chopped
  • *Optional – avocado &/or cheese

What to do:
  • Spray baking pan with olive oil (I prefer the foil tins to make clean up easier! But you can also line a 9×13 pan with foil and spray the foil)
  • Combine all ingredients
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until sides begin to crisp and middle is cooked thoroughly
For the portion fix portion sizes:
Makes 6 servings: 1 red, 1 green, and blue depending on the cheese/avocado
I made a second pan for my husband using 16 eggs and adjusted the veggies to be 4 red peppers and 4 cups of spinach to give him 4 servings – each of which included 2 reds and 2 greens. 
Note you can make any changes you feel necessary to this recipe – i.e. take out the onions, add in some mushrooms, etc…
My goal was to create a flavorful breakfast that would be several servings and include a protein-veggie-healthy fat combo. This most definitely did the trick!

80 Day Obsession Program details

What is 80 Day Obsession?

The 80 Day Obsession workout program is an effective, step-by-step approach to building a shaped, curvy butt while simultaneously shrinking the core. It’s 80 days of obsessive focus on fitness and nutrition spread over 13 weeks.

This is not meant to be a beginner focused program but rather targeted to those who want to take their fitness & nutrition as well as results to the next level!

For the first time, Beachbody On Demand members can experience each day of this program in real time.

Starting January 15th, 2018, each new workout will be posted for you to do along with the cast, so you can experience it as well.

Day by day, you’ll feel like you’re part of the action – following along with Autumn and the cast and they progress through the program.

How long are the workouts?

The workouts are intense and average 45 -60 minutes.

Does the nutrition plan follow the container system?

The nutrition plan does incorporate the portion fix containers but not how they were/are used in other programs. You will be following a professionally calibrated macro-timed-nutrition plan with specific meals/containers/types of foods to eat at each point in the day.

What equipment is required?

Strength Slides,  Resistance loops (Available on 12/14) a mat, and a set of light, medium and heavy dumbells

What is the “timed nutrition” program like? 

The nutrition plan will follow the portion fix nutrition containers that have been used in other programs like Shift Shop, the 21-Day Fix, Hammer & Chisel, Insanity Max: 30, etc…

But rather than looking at a total allotment for the day you are provided with specific breakdown of what you’re eating and when including specific pre and post workout meals.

You are eating at specific times of the day and you have a pre and post workout meal.

One meal a day can be replaced with Shakeology and use of the Beachbody performance line is highly recommended. The energize is my magic mommy go go juice for my pre workout, the hydrate is during the workout (think benefits of gatorade without the sodium, sugar and artificial flavorings), the recovery is post workout (and the key to being able to get up and crush the next day’s workout) and recharge is what I drink 30 minutes before bed (to help speed up muscle recovery and sleep!) and this combo helps you get the most out of your workouts while optimizing results!

What can you do NOW to prep for the January release?

First off you will have an opportunity to preview the program with: A Little Obsessed:

A Little Obsessed workout program is a 5-day introduction program to prepare people for 80 Day Obsession. These workouts are shorter, easier versions of the 80 Day Obsession program and will include a 5-day meal plan and calendar.

Here are a couple of important dates for A Little Obsessed to keep in mind:

•     November 6 – November 10: A Little Obsessed will be available exclusively to Beachbody on Demand members as a live stream event. This means, starting on November 6, each day’s workout will be available for live stream at 9am PST and stay up for 24 hours for only BOD members to try. A total of 5 workouts will be available – one for each day between 11/6 – 11/10.

“I’m in London for my job.”

“It’s a the middle of October-middle of the week and IM IN LONDON FOR MY JOB”

That is what I was thinking when I stepped off the plane in London and came to the realization that this side gig that began 3.5 years ago, built in small pockets of time in between early morning hours and late evening hours while my kids were (sometimes) has turned into an incredible opportunity that is now expanding my impact internationally!

My first “big girl job” was for a Big 4 Accounting firm.

Let me rephrase that…A Big 4 INTERNATIONAL accounting firm.

I remember dreaming of traveling opportunities and when given the opportunity to check the box for my preferences I selected them all and I wanted to see ALL THE THINGS.

But my priorities quickly changed as wife-life and then mom-life came into play and I remember changing those preferences to only local clients so I could be home and close to family but that dream to travel internationally never quite disappeared…just sort of went into hibernation.

Things came full circle these last few days as we walked around the city of London, visited Buckingham palace and saw the city from the London Eye!

And while it all started with a small goal to just help one other mama find that post-baby MOM-fidence again and make $50 to get myself a darn pedicure (#SAHMprobs) and just once be able to get the groceries and buy the food I WANTED and not the things that were on sale…it’s blossomed into SO MUCH MORE and quite frankly I’d be a fool NOT to share this WITH YOU!!!

This past week a new door opened and I am so grateful that this coaching gig allowed me the opportunity to travel to London, grow our team internationally and really grow-as a PERSON!

The United Kingdom is a HUGE opportunity for the coach network to truly make a DIFFERENCE in the lives and FUTURE of others!

What is Double Time?

Double Time is Tony Horton’s very first fitness program that makes living a healthier lifestyle something you can do with another person. You and your spouse or a friend (or one of your own kids) will take on daily partner workouts and healthy eating for 30 days.

I get these questions a lot.

So to make things easier for you (and me!) I summed it all up here for you!

First things first: Do I take a multi vitamin?

Today? Yes. When I first started? No.

Let me explain…

I still remember the JOY I had when I started drinking Shakeology 3.5 years ago and could DITCH my costly prenatal vitamins. It was truly JOYFUL.

I didn’t actually LIKE taking them and could never remember to get my prescription filled, but as a nursing mama I was committed to giving my body what it needed and I knew my growing babe needed the nutrients.

When I cross referenced my prenatal to the nutrition facts of my chocolate Shakeology they were in LINE. I talked to my Doctor and we agreed that with Shakeology daily, an additional vitamin wasn’t necessary. I added a DHA supplement and was set –  #winning

Fast forward a few years and as I approached 30, I developed an unwanted dairy allergy. I tried to ignore it for a bit but it wasn’t going anywhere!!!

My skin was breaking out and I was constantly bloated. When I finally made the decision to go dairy free I knew I had to make a change with my daily superfoods.

So without a second thought I swapped out my daily whey-based Shakeology for the plant-based vegan option – easy breezy!

And much to my misunderstanding – I thought the ONLY difference between the vegan and regular was the whey protein vs. pea/quinoa protein. #wrong

But as I made the switch from regular chocolate to vegan chocolate and then vegan vanilla many of my challengers and team members followed suit.

And before long I was asked: WHY DO THE VITAMIN CONTENTS ON THE BAG OF VEGAN DIFFER FROM THE REGULAR? 

Hmmm great question. I honestly NEVER even noticed.

I had to do some research on this one…

Big picture – both varieties are formulated from a combination of over 70 superfoods that work TOGETHER to give you the healthiest meal in a CUP!

The Whey blends (regular) of Shakeology have been fortified with added vitamins and minerals to help support health and vitality.

The Vegan Shakeology blends include a variety of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. But because they are derived exclusively from the ingredients in Shakeology and are not fortified with added vitamins and minerals, these amounts of vitamins and minerals will vary naturally from batch to batch. For this reason, the amounts of all vitamins and minerals are not specified on the Vegan Shakeology labels.

So both still amazingly nutritious – however you just can’t be QUITE so sure on the exact amounts of some vitamins.

Soooo how do I NOW- bridge that gap?

ENTER ACTIVIT!

Activit is a daily multivitamin packed with 22 vitamins and minerals and extra ingredients to enhance your results from regular fitness training.

To be honest I thought it was just a multivitamin to take if you DIDN’T use Shakeology regularly.

But what its done for me is fill a nutritional gap that I had when I started drinking vegan!

Activit also has quercetin which helps with energy with the B vitamins in the most bioavailable forms! And I mean, who doesn’t need MORE energy?!

The vegan shakeology doesn’t have Biotin added like the whey-based shakeology does so I’ve also been getting my biotin here in my Activit instead of another supplement and I think its safe to say the nails speak for themselves!

And for those who have the MTHFR mutations (like some of my challengers!!!) – this vitamin includes methylated folate!

So because the vegan Shakeology is not fortified with extras – I have combined my daily activit with my daily Shakeology for my own optimal health!

Yup, true story. So you may be thinking, “then what are we about to talk about?”

That the scale is a silly liar.

MEET LYNSIE: 

  • She recently participated in my SHIFT SHOP LAUNCH party.
  • She replaced one meal a day with shakeology.
  • Followed the fitness plan.
  • Stayed accountable to our closed support group
  • And most importantly FINISHED WHAT SHE STARTED.

Here’s what she had to share:

Non- scale accomplishments: Mentally pushed myself to accomplish a daily goal of “me” time. To make me healthy for my family.
Weight and inches lost: No lbs lost. Muscle definition becoming more visible.

No Bake Cookie Breakfast bites

Gluten Free – Dairy Free – and DELICIOUS

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 TBS chia seeds
  • 3 TBS unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 3 TBS almond slivers
  • 3 TBS craisins (or raisins or other dried fruit)
  • 1/2 cup Vanilla Vegan Shakeology
  • 1/2 cup oats

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: 

  1. Combine the peanut butter and honey, melt in microwave 20-30 seconds. Stir thoroughly.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients
  3. Scoop/Roll 1″ round balls and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

Makes approximately 24 balls

For my Portion Fix Friends – 1 ball = 1/2 yellow (roughly estimated!)
