Final week to make the SHIFT

As we launch into this final week of our 6 week test group journey a few thoughts come to mind:

  1. I have realized I am stronger than I thought. 2017-06-08 06.55.42
  2. Accountability is one of the most underused POWERFUL tools in one’s fitness journey and when you LEAN in on it – it WORKS!
  3. Working out beyond 30 minutes is FUN and the results are worth the extra effort2017-06-08 08.05.00
  4. When you take a step back to MENTALLY get focused you can bust through any barriers you previously thought existed

This program is comprised of alternating HIIT/Cardio workouts and Strength training workouts.

Week 1 begins at 25 minutes

Week 2 is 35 minutes

Week 3 is 45 minutes

When you begin ROUND 2 you go back to week 2

Followed by week 3

And week 4 – which tops them all with 50 minute workouts.

But you know what?! I’ve realized that when you are really in the zone 50 minutes doesn’t seem so challenging any more!

I have been able to adapt to being on the road, traveling, vacations, baseball games, parties and more but its not because I am committed to a DIET – its because I committed to making this a LIFESTYLE change and its paying off 10-FOLD!

I have LOVED this fitness journey but I am more excited to be able to BRING YOU along WITH ME! And the date is fast approaching!

And tomorrow launches DAY 1 of my first ever TEST GROUP and an incredible opportunity to make a SHIFT in myself and challenge myself to new possibilities!

I am honored to start this next chapter in my health and fitness journey and I am EXCITED to share more with my friends, followers and my team as I embark in this BRAND new program – available to the public later this year!

In all honesty, I’ve been riding the struggle bus for longer than I would like to admit and I am in dire NEED to snap out of it, break that sugar cycle and get back to feeling like ME – and I know this is my ticket!

Although I am a coach, I need accountability just as much as everyone else! And I am counting on my challengers and fellow test group participants to hold me to it – to help me along – to share ideas and to STAY ON TRACK!

Team Retreat in Destin – RECAP

I have just returned home after a 5 day trip for our Team’s Retreat in Destin Florida and I am filled with so many emotions!!!

So many amazing takeaways from this trip and while I want to run, put my blinders on and get to work, I also need to take a moment to reflect on this incredible getaway!!!

 

I have hosted my own for my team and this is the second retreat I have attended with my upline sponsor coach and I cannot say enough POSITIVE things about the after math of attending something like this!

We had our team there filling one house on the Beach and together with the other Dream Team Coaches – we filled 5 mansions in Destin Florida with 10+ Elite coaches in the network led by our fearless leader, the #1 Coach in all of Beachbody.

There were corporate led trainings, team led trainings, small group breakouts, parties, fun, dancing, dinners, group workouts, late night chat sessions, and more!

You could say it was a bit of a powerhouse event!

I’ve heard so many women say they don’t have girlfriends and they get along better with men and that is sad to me, because when confident, happy, secure women come together in friendship, amazing things happen!!!

I’ll admit I got a bit anxious leading up to the event. I mean 14 girls in one house – PLUS – over 100 girls coming together for games and trainings…its a lot to take in!!!

But I know the importance of events.

And as expected, I walked away from this event with new friendships, stronger bonds, and perhaps a 6 pack in the making from all the laughter!

I want to share a bit with you all so you can understand that this wasn’t just an opportunity to unplug and soak up some rays…but rather an opportunity TO GROW our businesses, our confidence, and improve the overall quality of our LIVES!

I arrived on Wednesday evening and Thursday kicked off our Team’s trip!

Miracle Morning

I’ve been preparing for my upcoming Miracle Morning accountability group and this was the perfect setting to dive in and get to practicing what I was about to be preaching!!!

Friday night we got together with the other 5 houses and together, 125 Beachbody Leaders strong, we competed in the BEACH OLYMPICS!

I’m not sure I ever laughed so hard!

From crab crawls in the sand, to wheelbarrow races, to 3-legged races, to running with a pineapple on my head – this was hands down one of the most fun nights of my LIFE!

Our team may not have one the trophy but we did win with the most laughs!!! #TeamPurple rocked it for sure!

Saturday it was time to Learn!!! From 9-5 we heard from some of the top leaders at Corporate and the top leaders in the company.

From social media trainings, to recruiting, to creating independent leaders, to creating a powerful vision, to leading with a PURPOSE, to learning how to JUST BE YOU and lead from the heart with the goals and impact you have on others in the heart of what we do!

Things slowed down as we wrapped up our training session, regrouped, then headed out for margaritas and tacos! Because what group of women doesn’t like margaritas and tacos?!?!

That just about sums it up!

You see this last weekend I did something I envisioned a year ago but wasn’t certain it would become a reality…at least not so soon!

Now I have to share that this would not have been possible without the incredible support of my husband

He was a key player as I hosted my first ever DIAMOND Retreat in Deep Creek MD with one of my closest friends and what I like to think of as my Business Partner in crime!

You see…Sarah and I attended a leadership retreat last year hosted by our upline sponsor coach and we decided that this year we would do the same…with OUR leaders WE would help shape as we built our teams, our legacy, our TRIBEs throughout the last year.

Sarah and I are Success Partners.

We are each other’s biggest fans, shoulder to lean on, supporter and FRIEND. We get each other, build on one another’s strength’s and compliment each other’s weaknesses in a way that allows us to become better Coaches and better LEADERS.

Being able to work together to host this weekend and to get these girls together was literally a DREAM COME TRUE!

The only thing that would have made it better was if all our Diamond Coaches could attend!

Our Friday morning kicked off with a car loaded with gifts, food, craft supplies and perhaps some beverages!

We planned this weekend to not only recognize our leaders but help them grow, answer their questions, give them advice, help them with their vision and have some fun and celebrate all our team accomplishments!!!

The girls all walked in to a table covered with personalized posters and a few gifts of course!!! Gift giving has become my love language in this business. These ladies work H-A-R-D and being able to shower them with meaningful, purposeful gifts fills my heart, or my cup shall I say!

Friday night included a training while we piled high on the couches, ears wide open ready to absorb, take notes, and apply these things to our business.

We had fun asking questions, allowing the girls to all get to know each other and all sharing a bit more about ourselves and WHY we all not just took this LEAP into coaching but continue to work hard each and every day to grow our businesses and serve others!

There were happy tears, some sad tears and a heck of a lot of bonding!

Our Saturday was JAM PACKED…starting with few minutes for ME!

I know it may sound crazy but I need these 10-15 minutes of positivity in the mornings to get into that mindset.

From the girl who never wears make up and didn’t even OWN a curling iron to last year I will admit…getting all done up and feeling like a princess is one heck of a confidence boost!

When the glam was over we switched gears and headed off to the Lake to RELAX. I honestly feel that the best aspect was NO WIFI!!

We enjoyed all our meals at the house, prepared with good company, keeping it clean where we could

The last “activity” included crafting up vision boards together.

Each girl brought their own board, ideas and together we talked about what we wanted, what we needed, what our path looked like and how big our dreams could be dreamt!

Did you know when you write out your goals it will force you to clarify what you want because it will motivate you to take action?

It will provide a filter for other opportunities and it will help you overcome resistance because it will enable you to see—and celebrate—your progress.

If I can give you one bit of advice: its don’t just sit with your goals in your head.

Write them down.

Share them with others.

And celebrate every step along the way!

Our night ended, we woke up Sunday morning, said our goodbye’s and all headed home.

My little secret: YOU PLAN AHEAD!!!!

As my summer slimdown accountability group kicks off week 1 – I am getting similar inquiries – HOW TO STAY ON TRACK WHEN TRAVELING & AWAY FROM HOME

So I wanted to take a few minutes to share my top tips:

FOR YOUR WORKOUTS:

  1. Find a way to get your workout in!
    • Many of the Beachbody workout programs don’t even require any weights! If you’re doing something like PIYO or Insanity Max: 30 or T25 – you won’t even need to worry about packing anything special! You and a positive mindset and you’re GOLDEN!
    • No DVD player? No Internet? No problem!!!
      • Beachbody On Demand (BOD) allows you to stream all your purchased workout programs as well as hundreds of other workouts. While the Internet is required to stream straight from BOD using wifi – if you find yourself with no internet connection simply download the BOD app and then download the selected workouts for while you’re away! variety is the spice of life banner
  2. Invest in a resistance band (for all my Fixers!)
    • You can grab a resistance band from TeamBeachbody.com or at Wal-Mart or Dicks Sporting Goods for next to nothing, it travels well, packs lightly and will allow you to continue with your strength training workouts without the need for weights2015-03-04 07.05.37
  3. Use this time on “vacation” to give back to yourself!!! Sure you can allow yourself some extra rest but without the distractions of every day home life – carve out those 22-30 minutes, sweat it out, and reap the benefits all day long! This is a great time to set a new habit! Better yet – include your family or friends that are vacationing with you and make it a group effort! Its always more fun to SWEAT TOGETHER! 2015-05-29 07.45.30

NUTRITION

  1. Whether you’re off to a graduation party, birthday party or neighborhood picnic – my biggest tip: DO NOT ARRIVE STARVING!2015-04-12 10.10.11
    • Yes you’ll eat while you’re there, but when there is food surrounding you, you tend to OVEREAT – and usually not on the healthy stuff. 9 times out of 10 – I drink my Shakeology ON THE WAY to any get together! This helps reduce the cravings, fills me up and allows me to make better food choices once I get there – and it avoids the HANGRY mess. We all need to avoid the HANGRY stage!
  2. If you’re attending a potluck – take something you know fits your goals. Maybe its a veggie tray or fruit salad, or my favorite: Southwest Quinoa salad – take something YOU know YOU will eat…but also tastes good too! Its not about eating rabbit food…its about eating food to fuel you – and yes – it can and does taste good too! southwestern quinoa.jpg
  3. In fact – its part of a healthy weightloss journey. Too much restriction isn’t good for you!!! If you know you’ll be at the family reunion and you can’t imagine passing up those homemade rolls then my goodness – eat and enjoy the rolls! Or cake or cookies or whatever it is that you LOVE. But enjoy one and move on!
  4. Follow the two-bite rule
    • When you’re staring at that decadent cake…and cannot stand it anymore. Take two bites. The first one will be amazing. The second one even better, but after that the satiation diminishes. So just stop there!
  5. Stay hydrated! Too often we are hot, outside and maybe even getting bored. Before we have a chance to realize it we’re stuck munching on who knows what…before you hit the pantry – drink a big glass of water. That hunger you thought you felt may really just be thirst calling! If you need a little thirst buster – try a sparkling water! The Dasani Pineapple is my FAVORITE! 2016-04-25 17.34.49
  6. Boost your Shakeology!!!
    • Beachbody has these amazing Shakeology boosts – Power Greens, Focused Energy & Digestive Health – that I use on a situational basis. When I am short on greens I toss in the POWER GREENS – when I need a day of extra energy I boost it up with FOCUSED ENERGY and when my digestion could use a little kickstart – I add in some DIGESTIVE HEALTH!2015-07-18 10.15.36.jpg
  7. Pack a cooler! 
    • Whether you’re heading out for a day of meetings, a day at the amusement park, a road trip down the coast or just a day at the pool…if you’re away from home for more than a few hours you’re going to need to eat.
    • Control the controllable, pack your veggies & fruits, clean/prep as much as possibl and include plenty of DRINKS!!! 2015-08-29 09.51.43
  8. Pick a “good bar” – there are a lot of “bars” on the market but trust me when I say they are not all created equal!!! Kind Bars, That’s It bars, and Quest Bars are a few of my go-tos – and more recently Lara Bars as they are Gluten Free, Vegan and NON-GMO!!!   9. If you’re at a house for a week long vacation – pick up your staples! When we vacation I always keep stock in peppers (great, easy snack!), apples, berries, yogurt, oatmeal, spinach, eggs, etc… so I can still continue to enjoy my favorites throughout the day. Then when it comes time for dinner I make the best CHOICES I can…afterall isn’t that all you can really do?!

Failing to plan planning to fail

At the end of the day – its about living and sustaining a healthy BALANCED lifestyle. There will never be a “good time” to start something new. So don’t wait any longer. When you’re ready – just go for it – do your best and never look back!!! Plan as much as possible and make HEALTHY choices at each opportunity!

Week 1: 22 MHC & 3 Day Refresh Results

And that’s where I was last Sunday night.

A 3 day trip to Texas to visit family, 5 days on a cruise, and a weekend where I had no desire to grocery shop or meal plan or prep meant lots of take out, alcohol, gluten and dairy…all things my body is not used to and all things my body dislikes!!!

I decided to do the 3-DAY REFRESH to jumpstart me back into my kind of normalcy as I began my journey (again) on 22 Minute Hard Corps.

I started the same way I would expect my challengers to start: by documenting Day 1!!

Luckily I have two littles who typically jump at the chance to join mommy in whatever it is mommy is doing!

The before pics were taken, the meal plan set, and I went to work!

I have done the 3-Day Refresh several times now and to be honest…its pretty straightforward!

You day includes:

  • 1 Shakeology
  • 1 Fiber Sweep
  • Green Tea
  • 2 Vanilla Refresh Drinks
  • a fruit, veggie and healthy fat along with the lunch shake
  • a veggie and healthy fat for an afternoon snack
  • And one of the veggie dinner options to go with the dinner refresh shake

The hard work is done – there’s a solid plan…you just have to stick to it!

I had daily accountability from my hubby with my workouts and my mother in law joined me in the refresh! I will admit – its a heck of a lot easier to stay true to that plan when there is someone else right there in the trenches with YOU!

I continued through my first week of 22 Minute Hard Corps without a problem.

The guide will tell you to do light to moderate activity but even with the higher intensity of 22 Minute Hard Corps – I was able to push through without any problems…but yes, I was in fact happy come Thursday morning when I got to add my carbs back into the mix!

But you know how the saying goes: Nothing worth having comes easy!

3 day refresh results zoomed in

There were a few trying moments but I kept pulling up this picture taken the day before I started and it helped me realize…it was time to kiss the food baby goodbye – for good!

I even survived a trip to the zoo and passed on Dippin Dots…if that’s not motivation – I don’t know what is!!!

I ended up losing a total of 5 pounds and 3 inches around my waist but most of all that heavy, bloated feeling is GONE!!! And that was what I needed.

And here’s the kicker…even after the holiday weekend…I haven’t gained it back!!! Sure I indulged a little but that’s just it – it was A LITTLE! One bad meal won’t make you overweight and one fabulous salad won’t give you rock hard abs! Its consistency and progress over TIME.

I am ready to head into 22 Minute Hard Corps WEEK 2 with a plan, clear focus and determination to  continue my RESULTS!

I can’t believe we are already one day in!

My hubby and I, a few of our besties and 3,000 other coaches are enjoying a trip we of a lifetime aboard the Oasis of the Sea – one of the largest ships to sail the ocean waters and guess what – it was totally FREE!

Yup – earned by helping others reach their goals as well as get started with their own health & fitness businesses.

Pretty darn cool to be part of an organization that rewards its team for well, simply doing what we are here to do!
Its crazy to think and rewind for a bit…

2 years ago I was a BRAND new coach and I watched other leaders in the  company head off on the Success Club cruise in awe thinking – I can do this too!!!

I want to do this!

Let’s do this!!!

It was the thought – to be able to earn a vacation for my family – that helped propel me to just give it a try!

To try this entrepreneur – momboss life and see what happened!

And you know what?!?!

The consistency has paid off!

Through helping at least 3 people every single month in 2014 I was able to earn a trip to Cancun last spring and by continuing to do so throughout 2015 – I have now earned this cruise!

Avocado Chicken Egg salad

Avocado chicken egg salad tomatoes with website and recipeI may be slightly obsessed with avocados…however if there is one thing to be obsessed with I think I picked a pretty good guilty pleasure!

I’ve made this meal in multiple variations for myself, my hubby and my extended family on so many different occasions and no one ever complains!! Simple, fresh and healthy – what can go wrong???

Avocado chicken egg salad with berries

Ingredients:

Avocado chicken egg salad tomatoes, clean eating, 21-day fix approved, 21-day fix

  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1 hard boiled egg
  • 4 oz grilled chicken cut into cubes or shredded/rotisserie chicken
  • splash of lemon juice
  • Spinach
  • Corn tortillas (optional)

Mix and mash all ingredients. Eat alone or serve on a bed of spinach, in a corn or whole wheat tortilla or with tortilla chips! No matter which way you do it enjoy it – its amazing!
