What Is Barre Blend?

Barre Blend is a new low-impact, high-intensity, and high-energy workout program from our very own barre expert, professional dancer, and 3 Week Yoga Retreat co-creator Elise Joan.

Elise has created the perfect fusion of ballet barre, Pilates, and cardio interval training, designed to help you burn fat and create a lean, toned physique.

The workouts are 30–40 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 60 days. Elise leads you through each workout in real time, which makes you feel like you’re in a high-end barre studio with a super-supportive community.

What is 80 Day Obsession?

The 80 Day Obsession workout program is an effective, step-by-step approach to building a shaped, curvy butt while simultaneously shrinking the core. It’s 80 days of obsessive focus on fitness and nutrition spread over 13 weeks.

This is not meant to be a beginner focused program but rather targeted to those who want to take their fitness & nutrition as well as results to the next level!

For the first time, Beachbody On Demand members can experience each day of this program in real time.

Starting January 15th, 2018, each new workout will be posted for you to do along with the cast, so you can experience it as well.

Day by day, you’ll feel like you’re part of the action – following along with Autumn and the cast and they progress through the program.

How long are the workouts?

The workouts are intense and average 45 -60 minutes.

Does the nutrition plan follow the container system?

The nutrition plan does incorporate the portion fix containers but not how they were/are used in other programs. You will be following a professionally calibrated macro-timed-nutrition plan with specific meals/containers/types of foods to eat at each point in the day.

What equipment is required?

Strength Slides,  Resistance loops (Available on 12/14) a mat, and a set of light, medium and heavy dumbells

What is the “timed nutrition” program like? 

The nutrition plan will follow the portion fix nutrition containers that have been used in other programs like Shift Shop, the 21-Day Fix, Hammer & Chisel, Insanity Max: 30, etc…

But rather than looking at a total allotment for the day you are provided with specific breakdown of what you’re eating and when including specific pre and post workout meals.

You are eating at specific times of the day and you have a pre and post workout meal.

One meal a day can be replaced with Shakeology and use of the Beachbody performance line is highly recommended. The energize is my magic mommy go go juice for my pre workout, the hydrate is during the workout (think benefits of gatorade without the sodium, sugar and artificial flavorings), the recovery is post workout (and the key to being able to get up and crush the next day’s workout) and recharge is what I drink 30 minutes before bed (to help speed up muscle recovery and sleep!) and this combo helps you get the most out of your workouts while optimizing results!

What can you do NOW to prep for the January release?

First off you will have an opportunity to preview the program with: A Little Obsessed:

A Little Obsessed workout program is a 5-day introduction program to prepare people for 80 Day Obsession. These workouts are shorter, easier versions of the 80 Day Obsession program and will include a 5-day meal plan and calendar.

Here are a couple of important dates for A Little Obsessed to keep in mind:

•     November 6 – November 10: A Little Obsessed will be available exclusively to Beachbody on Demand members as a live stream event. This means, starting on November 6, each day’s workout will be available for live stream at 9am PST and stay up for 24 hours for only BOD members to try. A total of 5 workouts will be available – one for each day between 11/6 – 11/10.

  • “One dinner out won’t hurt”
  • “One splurge to celebrate with some fro-yo isn’t the end of the world” 
  • “I won’t meal plan this week, we’ll just wing it”
  • “A few margaritas just this once won’t make a difference”

The list continues…

And while my goal is to remain in BALANCE in my health and nutrition there comes a time when the scale tips just a little off center…

Needless to say the lack of a summer ROUTINE allowed my nutrition follow suit as the summer days came to a close and on Labor Day we hit the tipping point.

We enjoyed the good food with good friends and had a good time but I was feeling the impact of those not-so-normal food choices! The dip in my energy and trouble keeping my hand out of the cookie jar led me to back to ‘Old Faithful: 3 Day Refreshsuccess-is-never-final-yoga-motivational-quote.png

Because YES – while I do aim to eat 90% gluten free/dairy free & at least 80% CLEAN (if not more)…sometimes I fall into old habits too! #DidSomeoneSayCereal?

But I have learned this is part of the journey…the key to ongoing PROGRESS & SUCCESS is to keep moving forward and simply JUMP RIGHT BACK in where you left off!

I spent the first part of last week doing a 3-Day plant based cleanse which allowed me to break that sugar cycle, ditch the reliance on starchy carbs and get back to my grain free/dairy free meal plan that I’ve learned WORKS FOR ME!

And with my trusty 3-Day Refresh, a few fellow challengers to help me stay accountable and a reminder that: I CAN DO HARD THINGS…I was able to drop 3 pounds of BLOAT and get my groove back!

I don’t do these OFTEN but when my body needs to detox and cleanse I can feel it – I listen to it – and I never regret the sacrifices to FEEL good again!!! I have found quarterly tends to work best for me!!

How to enjoy vacation without undoing your fitness results

Hearing the amazing news that I was SELECTED as one of the participants in the SHIFT SHOP TESTGROUP was like a dream come true.

Then I looked at the calendar – Round 1 started with the week of my son’s birthday & Round 2 started with a week long vacation with our friends and family.

I immediately thought of the hurdles but quickly turned it around and imagined:

How good would it feel to not only get AMAZING results leading up to our beach vacation but to actually come home from that trip with those SAME RESULTS!?!?

2017-06-03 07.39.18I don’t know about you but even with a very healthy balanced lifestyle,  I will admittedly work *extra* hard leading up to an event and let the food and emotions run wild once the big day/trip comes.

It seems silly – I mean why work so hard to undo it?

How great would it be if you didn’t come home from vacation with guilt and another long(er) road ahead of you?!?!?!

And so…that’s just what I did!

I wrapped up Round 1 of the Shift Shop testgroup nearly 5 pounds lighter and with increased confidence which propelled me into a 2 day travel trip and week long trip at the beach with habits in tact and goals that couldn’t be squashed!

Was I perfect?

But I stuck to my guns and never felt like I was missing out or “couldn’t” eat what everyone else was eating. I simply ate what my body craved and if I wanted to taste a bite of ice cream or sample the mac and cheese I did – but you know what…I never felt the need for more than a taste!

So how can YOU go on your next vacation or weekend getaway without reversing the work you put in beforehand:

  • PACK SNACKS for the car. And no I’m not meaning bars and pretzels! My road trip snacks included:
    • Cut up apple for easy drive/snacking
    • Red peppers
    • Over hard eggs
    • Roasted veggies
    • Shakeology and coconut water filled shaker cup
    • Strawberries
    • Fruity gum
  • Allow your friends to know you’re working on becoming a healthier version of YOU and if they’re truly your friends they will support YOU
  • 2 words: SPARKLING WATER
    • There were adult beverages going down but you know what – I never had ONE! And I didn’t feel I had to! I sipped a sparkling water of choice and still had a blast at game night, watched the PENS playoff hockey game and lounged by the pool without feeling like I was missing out on the fun! Because I didn’t want it. I didn’t want the extra calories and when you don’t WANT it you don’t feel like you’re MISSING a thing!

  • Plan to workout daily
    • PICK A TIME: While I was initially thinking I would get up at 6 and work it – I didn’t! I talked to my hubs who was cool with us enjoying the morning for as long as it would last until the littles woke up – so we did!!! Some mornings I got them breakfast before I pressed play some mornings he took the reigns. They were up by 7 each day – but I enjoyed the no alarm.  But each morning I had some company with me and you know what – I LOVED it!!!

 

  • THE POINT: Just make sure you DO IT. Pack weights or a resistance band if you need it or go with a no equipment workout like CORE DE FORCE or PIYO and keep moving!
  1. Grocery shop
    • Obviously your storage situations will vary but with our beach trip we were in a house! The kiddos and I stopped at the farmers market on the way down and then hit up the grocery store once we got there. On pizza night I ordered a salad. On Taco Tuesday I whipped up a Taco Salad and splurged on a few chips – key word: FEW. When we did the steamer buckets I fried some eggs and enjoyed leftover veggies!!!
  2. Drink your Shakeology daily

Not only does it help with cravings but its an easy meal to pack and make and can be enjoyed any time of the day! It was breakfast a few times, lunch a few times and even a late night snack one night! This is one meal/snack that feels like a splurge BUT ISN’T so enjoy it when you can!

Each day of the program consists of a series of total body rounds within the 22 minute workout window, rotating through functional resistance, cardio, and core focused workouts.

As Mr. Tony Horton says, “All you have to do is show up, keep up, and you WILL get in shape.”

 

How long is the program? 8 WEEKS

How long is each workout? You guessed it, 22 MINUTES

What equipment is needed? For some 22 MINUTE HARD CORPS routines, you will need a pull-up bar or resistance band and door attachment, as well as a Beachbody® PT Sandbag or dumbbells.

Ahhh I can’t believe this weekend is finally here! Pittsburgh Market Council Super Friday prep

There’s been a lot of prep going on the background for months but our Beachbody Super Friday weekend has arrived and I have butterflies just thinking about all to come!

We have a jam packed agenda Friday night and a heck of a lot of recognition to endure as we have the Top Coach in all of Beachbody along with a 2x Top 10 coach, our CEO – Carl Daikeler and Celebrity Trainer Autumn Calabrease. And to cap the night we’ll be enjoying a live mashup by none other than Master Trainer Kam Niskach.

Its been such an honor being part of the Pittsburgh Market Council and being involved with all the planning and coordinating behind such a huge event!

We are sold out, leading the event in one of the most amazing places in Downtown Pittsburgh and I know we will not disappoint!

And while this excitement is swirling around in my head I am flashing back to last year’s event – one where I arrived as a star diamond coach with my hubby and just one coach on my team, my bestie.

Just thinking of how much has spiraled and transpired over the last year leaves with me this burning desire to get out there and share this opportunity with everyone I cross paths with! Its given me such a new outlook on life. How you can live out the most amazing life in balance, health and fulfillment!

And well, that’s only Friday night…

I have also been asked to present at a Dream Team led training Saturday morning along with a few of the BEST of the BEST coaches in the entire network.

Some of these ladies presented last year and I remember sitting there listening and absorbing thinking WOW – I can only imagine what that feels like to be up on that stage sharing their best practices and low behold there will be no imaging this year!

I’ll be living it and I’ll have my TEAM, my mom and my husband all there to support me.

If that doesn’t fill my cup I don’t know what does!

Then I get to spoil my coaches with some hair and make up pampering before we set off to enjoy a night of dancing and fun at the Lexus Club in Consol Energy.

And yes, I could go on and on and on!

I spent last weekend on a Diamond Retreat in the PocoFitness group photo shoot idea, Fitness inspiration, Maegan Blinka, Megan Blinka, Poconos golf course, Weekend getaway, Girls weekend trip, nos with some fellow Diamond coaches. While arguably this was a “work trip” it truly felt just like a girls getaway with a few of my closest friends. The crazy part – this was the first time some of us had EVER met.

Yet our social media businesses allow us to feel like sisters. And as I sit here today reflecting on the last year I will say I am beyond blessed that my newly developed PASSION for health and fitness and paying it forward has given me such incredible opportunities but this didn’t happen overnight!

Rewind a few years ago and I had NO IDEA what a Beachbody Coach was. Sure – I had heard of the P90X and Insanity home DVD workout programs but I didn’t know there was a network out there to help others reach their health & fitness goals.

When I found myself post part with Baby #2 I realized it was time for a change. I wanted to be healthy for me & my family. I wanted to have the energy to keep up with my kiddos and I wanted to be leading a healthy lifestyle by example!

When I was FINALLY ready to COMMIT I joined a challenge group with my coach, completed the 21-day fix, got results and NEVER LOOKED BACK! I often think about where I’d be today if I hadn’t reached out to her. If I hadn’t asked for help. If I didn’t realize I could be a better person?!?!?! Regardless…I am grateful!!!

The potential to create a full fledge BUSINESS while still being home with my family…and here I am today – 16 months later celebrating the successes of my team!

Our first night ice breaker allowed us to all learn about one another while enjoying some home cooked lasagna dinner…yes Beachbody coaches splurge too and a few of the treats my mini me and I whipped together before heading east.

This weekend was full of inspiration! Learning about how different our backgrounds are yet how we have all taken our own spin on our businesses to make it our own – to be ourselves – to grow a team – and to inspire others that they can do this too!

Our Saturday morning included an outdoor photo shoot complete with team and individual photos as well as indoor professional shots. Watching each of the coaches take their turn and show a little something about themselves was such a cool experience!!!

And as the photo shoot wrapped up we changed pace and headed out to the Lake for a day of Boating! This was pure FUN in the SUN. Tubing and singing and again – just learning about one another and having the chance to bond face to face (opposed to our usual VOXER messages and Zoom calls) was so valuable!!

As our boating ended we headed back to our house, for a low key night complete with a champagne toast and one last chance to celebrate our team and our successes as we spent the night giggling away!

I still get goosebumps when I think about how that ONE decision to become a coach and make this a BUSINESS has changed my life and the ripple effect that follows.
