And just like that 8 weeks flew by and I found myself 56 days down the road since I began my journey with 22 Minute Hard Corps.

Before I start any new program I take the time to sit, reflect and set some goals.

Then, naturally, comes the evaluation stage when its all said and done.

Sometimes I crush them. Sometimes I fall way short and others its right on the line.

I’d say these ones fell right on the line.

I lost 1.8 pounds & just shy of 2″ around my waist.
I see more definition in my core and arms and feel leaner.

I quickly saw the immediate results of when I chose clean, healthy food choices vs. when I didn’t. I am getting to the point where the crazy out of control cheat meals just aren’t worth it! I do much better when I avoid the gluten and steer clear of the dairy!!!

On the upside I am able to pound out more pushups than ever before but fell short of that dang pull up goal #someday

All in all I am happy with my results. When you boil it down, we enjoyed the Easter holiday, our little man’s 3rd birthday, a few friend parties, a Baptism, the Buccos opening day, Mothers Day, a Pens playoff game and found balance in it all!

My nutrition was far from perfect…and while my goal is usually 80/20 I’d say I fell more along the lines of 70/30. But I enjoyed the ride! And that’s just it – its a PROCESS!!!

I was excited to share in this journey with all of my challengers and look forward to seeing what the next challenge brings!

People kept asking me: Would I recommend this program?

Truth is – I think it is a great program to do – but not to get started with.

The 22 Minute length is amazing but a lot of the moves are challenging.

I have been consistently working out for over 2 years and found myself modifying more often than anticipated. A lot of my new challengers who started with this program found themselves struggling. That being said – others who had already completed programs like Insanity Max:30, 21-day fix, PIYO, etc… enjoyed the change up, shorter length and challenge this program brought.

In the end it will depend on you and what you like.

But if you’re wondering if this program can help you reach your goals…chances are the answer is YES!!! 

I am happy to add this to my library and look forward to dabbling back to these workouts, even the dreaded Cardio 3 on those days when I really do just have 22 minutes to spare!

The best Cauliflower Pizza crust

It’s not too often that I get a request from my hubby for dinner but last week he was quick to put our gluten free cauliflower crust pizza on the meal plan!

And with a childhood ritual of pizza Friday I figured this would fit in perfectly tonight.

It takes a little bit of time to “rice” the cauliflower but all in all its a pretty easy meal to throw to gether and my toddler didn’t blink an eye that this tasted different than the take out stuff!

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • 3/4  head cauliflower (about 3 cups riced)
  • 1 TBS garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (I used a blended pizza cheese, mozzarella would be fine!)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1.5 teaspoon basil
  • 1.5 teaspoon oregano

Note: the above is just for the crust.

I added one cup all natural pizza sauce (watch the label for no added sugars), 1 cup of cheese, some spinach and chicken to make ours a more complete meal! I also think banana peppers would have been a great addition but you make it the way you want!!! That’s the one good thing when you’re making it from home – its all up to YOU!

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
  1. Pre-heat oven to 400° F.
  2. Prep a cookie sheet or pizza stone by grease it with oil. I used a paper towel to really rub it in the stone! Alternatively you could use foil in a pan to reduce the chance of it sticking!
  3. Remove the stems and leaves from your cauliflower and chop the florets into chunks. Add to a food processor and pulse just until the texture is similar to rice. I did this in very small batches – probably a total of 6 times to get the 3 cups riced! If you don’t have a food processor or Vitamix, you can grate the cauliflower with a cheese grater or chop it very small.
  4. Sauté the cauliflower for approximately 8 minutes over medium heat. (The first time I made this I microwaved it but this time I sauteed – not much of a difference!)
  5. Combine the cooked cauliflower and all other ingredients.
  6. Spread dough out evenly over foil (or stone) – about ¼  inch thick. The pizza should be about 9-10 inches in diameter or if you use a square like I did about 10×10.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes or until the crust begins to brown and its cooked thoroughly.
  8. Remove the crust from the oven and add sauce, cheese and other toppings.
  9. Broil the pizza for 5 minutes, or until the toppings are hot and the cheese is melted. Allow the pizza to cool for 2-3 minutes then cut and serve immediately.(Note:While the crust was baking I pan fried 2 chicken breasts in olive oil with 1 TBS of my favorite Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. The chicken was heavy so I broiled – then added the chicken)

I was so excited to share this with all my challengers!

So many people begin to eat clean or try to eat healthier and they think they can’t have their favorite foods when in reality you can – its just about learning how to make little twists and tweaks so you can enjoy new favorites and know you’re fueling up with quality nutrition – that you can still feed your littles!

Change isn’t easy. It can be hard. There can be moments of doubt. But my goodness when you reach that goal it feels pretty darn amazing.

Let me share for a minute my moment when that desire to change finally outweighed my desire to stay the same…

I was 3 most post-partum with my second child. I was 27 years old, holding on to about 5 or 7 ‘extra’ pounds at that point and down right – EXHAUSTED (what mom of an infant isn’t?!?!)

For the longest time I just thought new moms were supposed to be tired all the time…but then I realized…

It just didn’t seem right.

I was young, a stay at home mom of 2 and I wasn’t overweight. I had all these “things” i wanted to do with my kiddos and around the house and being EXHAUSTED wasn’t really an option. Not anymore!

But I am no fool.

I knew the problem.

It was my nutrition and lack of ANY type of exercise was the root of the cause…

So I took the plunge and  made the commitment to change all the things that I knew were bringing me down and low and behold…I FOUND MY RESULTS.

Sure, the portion containers were intimidating at first. I had never measured ANYTHING.

I was a bit reluctant to think there was really a program out there that could help you lose “up to 15 pounds in 21 days”.

And don’t get me started on the hesitations to Shakeology – I thought it was crazy expensive and truly expected a chalky milk drink!

But like I said, I was ready to make that commitment. So I pushed the doubts aside and jumped in…all IN and I have never looked back!

My passion, my business and a huge part of my life has become helping other women – and other moms – find what I was looking for 2 years ago.

To find that solution to a problem, to support others in their journey, to guide them and teach them so they too know just how amazing their bodies are designed to feel when treated right!

Banana Oat Muffins

Sometimes as you come down the homestretch of a workout program you just need to kick it up a notch!

I’m in the midst of week 6 of the new Bootcamp style program 22 MINUTE HARD CORPS and week 2 of my Bikini Bootcamp. But if I’m being real with you all…I have an untamable sweet tooth!!!

Ok – so its kind of tamable – BUT I love when I can find clean alterntives to old favorites and that’s exactly what I got with these muffins!

WHAT YOU NEED:

-2 ripe bananas
-2 cups oats
-1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
-2 eggs
-1.5 tsp vanilla
-1 tsp cinnamon
-dash of Himalayan sea salt
-1 1/4 cups plain Greek yogurt
-Chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkles, and pirate flags at your own discretion 😜

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

Blend all ingredients together (I had to stop and stir about 3x)

Pour into 12 (lined) muffin tins

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes

Enjoy!!!

Now I will admit – these were not on my Bikini Bootcamp meal plan…initially…however as you can see form the list above (minus the chips & sprinkles) this is totally clean!

The container equivalents were close to my Mancakes – which include a combo of oats, egg/egg whites and fruit…as does the above with some greek yogurt as well.

The more I thought about it this made 12 muffins.

The ingredients included 4 “purples” – 4 “yellows” – (almost) 3 “reds”

Sometimes the “fix portion breakdown” doesn’t quite line up exactly but my estimate is 3 muffins would yield you 1 Purple, 1 yellow and 1 red not counting the sprinkle of chocolate chips!

As I wrapped up week 4 of my 22 Minute Hard Corps I found myself slipping on my nutrition….similairly the results I was seeing form after the first 3 weeks lessened as the bloat kicked in.

Sure my workouts were on point, they typically are but I fell off the wagon, enjoyed a late night business meeting, fun girls night out, pizza night in and a Pittsburgh Pirate baseball game on the most beautiful day of the year. I was hurting…so I did exactly what I know best…FLIPPED GEARS – and this next week is all about nutrition FOCUS!

You’re not hungry.
You FEEL energized.
And the results show.

So while I don’t have to use these for every meal and there are some things I just estimate…when I am home and can… I do…because then I eat MORE – and this mama loves her food!!!

I have a minor surgery Friday so that day will be a bit off and our weekend is filled with some time with friends and little get togethers but I am still planning accordingly!

Spring can be quite the eye opener.

Top tips to get in a morning workout

Want to know a secret? I don’t like getting up at 5:00am to workout🙈

Yup! I said it!

But here’s the deal…when it comes to my schedule and our typical day…if it doesn’t happen bright and early before the kiddos wake up…it just doesn’t happen! I am not an exercise in the evening person!

And while I don’t love peeling myself out of bed at 5:00am…I do LOVE the health benefits of consistent, daily exercise…and the impact on the waistline isn’t too shabby either!

So here’s my tips to ensuring my snooze doesn’t turn into an unplanned rest day:

1. Set the alarm…or 3 alarms but put the phone ACROSS the room so you HAVE to get out of bed to grab it. You may lay back in bed for a snooze but chances are when you stand up…if you can repeat over and over to yourself I’M AWAKE 3x chances are…you’ll just get to it!

2. Sleep in your workout clothes! Its one less step and one less thing to think about it in the morning! And if you don’t want to sleep in them…AT LEAST lay them out the night before!

3. As soon as you pop out of bed – down a pre-workout drink like ENERGIZE!

4. Commit to a SCHEDULE. I don’t like to fall off schedule so knowing that each day I am doing a particular workout or focusing on a particular part of my body helps me stay committed.

5. Tell a friend! Find a buddy or accountability partner who is working towards similar goals as you. Whether its a verbal commitment or an early morning text to simply say “let’s crush it” may be all you need to get up and get moving!

Week 1: 22 MHC & 3 Day Refresh Results

And that’s where I was last Sunday night.

A 3 day trip to Texas to visit family, 5 days on a cruise, and a weekend where I had no desire to grocery shop or meal plan or prep meant lots of take out, alcohol, gluten and dairy…all things my body is not used to and all things my body dislikes!!!

I decided to do the 3-DAY REFRESH to jumpstart me back into my kind of normalcy as I began my journey (again) on 22 Minute Hard Corps.

I started the same way I would expect my challengers to start: by documenting Day 1!!

Luckily I have two littles who typically jump at the chance to join mommy in whatever it is mommy is doing!

The before pics were taken, the meal plan set, and I went to work!

I have done the 3-Day Refresh several times now and to be honest…its pretty straightforward!

You day includes:

  • 1 Shakeology
  • 1 Fiber Sweep
  • Green Tea
  • 2 Vanilla Refresh Drinks
  • a fruit, veggie and healthy fat along with the lunch shake
  • a veggie and healthy fat for an afternoon snack
  • And one of the veggie dinner options to go with the dinner refresh shake

The hard work is done – there’s a solid plan…you just have to stick to it!

I had daily accountability from my hubby with my workouts and my mother in law joined me in the refresh! I will admit – its a heck of a lot easier to stay true to that plan when there is someone else right there in the trenches with YOU!

I continued through my first week of 22 Minute Hard Corps without a problem.

The guide will tell you to do light to moderate activity but even with the higher intensity of 22 Minute Hard Corps – I was able to push through without any problems…but yes, I was in fact happy come Thursday morning when I got to add my carbs back into the mix!

But you know how the saying goes: Nothing worth having comes easy!

There were a few trying moments but I kept pulling up this picture taken the day before I started and it helped me realize…it was time to kiss the food baby goodbye – for good!

I even survived a trip to the zoo and passed on Dippin Dots…if that’s not motivation – I don’t know what is!!!

I ended up losing a total of 5 pounds and 3 inches around my waist but most of all that heavy, bloated feeling is GONE!!! And that was what I needed.

And here’s the kicker…even after the holiday weekend…I haven’t gained it back!!! Sure I indulged a little but that’s just it – it was A LITTLE! One bad meal won’t make you overweight and one fabulous salad won’t give you rock hard abs! Its consistency and progress over TIME.

I am ready to head into 22 Minute Hard Corps WEEK 2 with a plan, clear focus and determination to  continue my RESULTS!

2016 Beachbody Success Club Trip

The sand, the sun, the fun, the friends, the trainers, the workouts, the fancy dresses, the dinners out, the desserts, the late night laughs….this my friends was a week of coach life at its finest.

If you have been wondering where I have been this past week, I have been atop of the largest cruise ship – the Oasis of the Seas for the 2016 Team Beachbody Success Club trip!!!

This is my second success club trip, one which I earned for myself and my amazing hubby for HELPING others get started on their health and fitness journey & starting their very own businesses – aka earning success club points – throughout 2015 which in turn paid for our trip…and then some!

And while it was my second trip it was the first as the leader of an ELITE team and we kicked things off with this adorable little welcome bag!

In addition, we were spoiled with onboard credits to use for our excursions, spa trips, drinks and gifts which pretty much left me in awe as I sat back and realized what an incredible impact that simple decision was to sign up as a Beachbody Coach  —— EXACTLY 2 years ago!

My husband and I left last Wednesday, enjoyed a few days visiting family in Texas, left our littles with the grandparents and flew down to Florida bright and early Saturday morning.

We did everything from lounging in the pool, drinking coconuts at Cabbage Beach in the Bahamas, to hiking the Dunns River Falls in Jamaica, to a couples massage at the spa to networking with my team, our friends, and other coaches in the network!

Its been such an honor to work with a company like Beachbody that truly SPOILS us!

We enjoyed the Elite Reception on our first night enjoying champagne, hanging out with the celebrity trainers and of course eating…yes we may be coaches but we like to EAT!

Last year I hopped on this trip solo with the hubby and this year I had one of my own personally sponsored coaches with me who just happens to be my lifelong best friend – and next year I already have several members of my tribe registered for trip!!!
The success is awesome but when you start to see that ripple effect through your team as they get to earn the trips too – that feeling cannot be beat!

It was also pretty cool to watch our Beachbody spouses bond too! This business of mine is far from a one women show.

He’s my biggest fan, biggest supporter and shoulder I lean on and seeing the guys hang out and have just as much fun as the girls was pretty darn awesome!!

We squeezed in daily live workouts with each of the trainers, from

Tony Horton on Day 1

to Sagi Kalev on Day 2

to Joel Freeman and Jericho McMatthews on Day 3

There is something about doing the live workouts with the trainers that just makes you push harder, jump higher and THRIVE!

It’s just an amazing experience to be surrounded by your friends and other coaches just doing our fitness thannnng – TOGETHER!!!

I also earned a photo opp session for being one of the top life changers in the first week of March and I snuck in a picture with each of the trainers and our incredible CEO – Carl Daikeler.

Wednesday was our last full day on the ship and we coined it “ADVENTURE DAY”. We kicked off the morning with our workout, breakfast then climbed the very challenging rock wall and then ended with the zip line!

Our afternoon was spent lounging, reading, napping and relaxing as we sailed home!

This was truly a TRIP of a LIFETIME and as much as I enjoyed it, I am so so so ready to get home and see my littles!

I can’t believe we are already one day in!

My hubby and I, a few of our besties and 3,000 other coaches are enjoying a trip we of a lifetime aboard the Oasis of the Sea – one of the largest ships to sail the ocean waters and guess what – it was totally FREE!

Yup – earned by helping others reach their goals as well as get started with their own health & fitness businesses.

Pretty darn cool to be part of an organization that rewards its team for well, simply doing what we are here to do!
Its crazy to think and rewind for a bit…

2 years ago I was a BRAND new coach and I watched other leaders in the  company head off on the Success Club cruise in awe thinking – I can do this too!!!

I want to do this!

Let’s do this!!!

It was the thought – to be able to earn a vacation for my family – that helped propel me to just give it a try!

To try this entrepreneur – momboss life and see what happened!

And you know what?!?!

The consistency has paid off!

Through helping at least 3 people every single month in 2014 I was able to earn a trip to Cancun last spring and by continuing to do so throughout 2015 – I have now earned this cruise!

There’s a heck of a lot more to this coaching gig than the free trips but my goodness are they an amazing way to celebrate the lives we are able to change each and every day!!!
