We survived the HOLIDAYS – 30 day Hammer & Chisel results!

My husband and I are 4.5 weeks into Hammer and Chisel and all I can say is WE DID IT!!!!

With the new release of the workout program The Masters: Hammer & Chisel on December 1st I was beyond tempted to “start in the new year”…however my very excited hubby said he was ready for a change and ready to go and since I am all too familiar with the power of an accountability partner, I couldn’t let him go at it alone!!!

So we decided we would start, do the best we could but still enjoy the holidays…aka EAT THE COOKIES, enjoy the parties and control the controllable!
And through 5 birthday parties, countless holiday get togethers, NYE and all that in between I am happy to say WE MADE IT!

Am I where I want to be?!

Well, no, not exactly.

But am happy with the progress?

Absolutely!

Even though I gained 2 pounds I lost 2 inches – which goes to show you this program can help you gain LEAN muscle!

I have been using the Beachbody Performance LineENERGIZE (pre workout) and RECOVER (post workout) daily which have been KEY in helping me get the most of out each workout and reduce muscle soreness. In addition I haven’t missed a day of my SHAKEOLOGY! Nutrition is key and while the holiday indulgences were there Shakeology played a huge role in making sure they didn’t get out of control, especially during the baking days!!!  For less than $4/meal you can’t beat that dense superfood nutrition!!!

The workouts are challenging and I KNOW the incredible results are coming but in all honesty – my nutrition wasn’t where it needs to be to get jaw-dropping results – but to make progress at a time when most Americans are gaining 7-10 pounds – I’LL TAKE IT!!!

I am getting stronger. My weights have increased and the 12 pounders that were collecting dust are now being tossed around with ease. One simple non-scale victory that helps reassure me – THIS PROGRAM IS WORKING!!!

As I look forward to the second half of this program I see our upcoming Beachbody weekend in the ‘Burgh – an entire weekend away from home and then two weeks later I’ll be off to LA for a Leadership conference.

Pineapple Chicken Skewers

I don’t know about you but we have no “grilling season” in our house – we grill all year long…rain, snow or shine – and this new recipe will be sure to hit the rotation more regularly!!!

PINEAPPLE CHICKEN SKEWERS

Serves 4 – 2 Skewers each  

Container equivalents: 1 Green – 1 Red – 1/2 Purple 

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 8 skewers
  • 1 lb raw chicken breast, cut into 1″ pieces
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce (gluten free)
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 8oz can pineapple chunks OR 1/2 pineapple cubed (fresh is SOOO much better if you can get a ripe one!)
  • 2 medium red bell peppers, cut into 16 1-inch chunks
  • 1 large red onion, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 large zucchini – sliced in half then into 1/2 inch moons (optional)

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

  1. If using bamboo skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes
  2. Place chicken in resealable plastic bag/container and add soy sauce, oil, ginger; seal bag and shake gently to mix. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes to marinate
  3. Preheat grill on medium heat
  4. Place a piece of chicken, pineapple chunks and veggies onto skewers, alternating the pieces
  5. Grill skewers on covered grill for 4-5 minutes each side or until chicken is no longer pink inside
  6. Serve immediately
  7. Use leftovers for lunch on the go salad

Note: This recipe was inspired by the FIXATE cookbook, by Autumn Calabrese. I added zucchini and doubled the peppers and onions to get in a full green container rather than just 1/2 a green along with the 1 red and 1/2 purple.

Autumn also created the 21-day fix and 21-day fix extreme workout programs which incorporate 30 minute workouts with a portion controlled nutrition plan. No matter what your age or weight or current athletic ability – anyone can eat right for their body type! She includes a variety of Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free and Paleo recipes.

Anyone else feeling the ill effects of an off-track Labor Day weekend????
My cooler came home from Ocean City with about as many veggies stuffed inside as it had when I left!

The intentions were there but my willpower fell to the waistline and I fully indulged in the crab dip and orange crushes and oh yes those BACON CHEESE FRIES!!!
I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE minute but my goodness I am B-L-O-A-T-E-D and ready to get back on my A-game! Besides I know the Fall weather is lurking and well…my new jeans don’t zip!

Just being around some of the best people in this company pushes me and fuels that fire and desire to be at that Elite party again next year!!! Needless to say it was a fun night!!!

Our Thursday started with a large Dream Team training.
My team is part of the #1 team in all of Beachbody, the Dream Team, and we hosted a Recipe for Success training program on Thursday morning. Talk about a power packed schedule. Two top 10 Elite Coaches and 6 additional Elite coaches sharing THEIR stories, THEIR tips for success and their struggles to help and inspire more to do more!!! I don’t think anyone left that training without a burning desire to Go. Do. MORE!

2015-07-17 08.25.19That evening was also the opening ceremonies which included recognition of a few levels including new 4-star Diamond coaches…ME! Walking across that stage seeing my name on the board – hearing my team mates cheering for me along wit 25,00o other coaches was so surreal.
It is also an opportunity to share and launch new products, programs and technology advances and let’s just say this year was jam packed!

Ok ok – perhaps its information overload – but let’s just say there’s lots to look forward to!!!
Friday kicked off the training sessions and a very special moment – the Celebrity photo Ops.
I earned this photo session based on the number of people I was able to help towards their health & fitness goals in the month of May and I was beyond excited to to snag a hot spot next to Chalene Johnson, Sagi Kalev and the man behind the hottest new program CIZE – Shaun T!

Trainings filled the day on both Friday and Saturday led by Inspirational speakers, top coaches, and Corporate leaders and celebratory parties filled the nights.

The streets of Nashville were shut down and about 20K coaches gathered on Broadway to SWEAT – sweat for something bigger – those who couldn’t and for one another!!!
And as I take a step back and look I realize that making this short and sweet totally didn’t happen!!! Oops! 🙂

All in all, this trip was absolutely INCREDIBLE – LIFE-CHANGING!
Sometimes I still have to stop and just thank God for this opportunity!
I had dreams of being a big successful executive in a big tall office building in a big city making big bucks.
Then…
I became a mom.
And all I wanted was to be at home with THEM.
But my desire to contribute to my family never left.
