Because amongst the travels and parties and summer nights around the fire and kids home from school and laid back vibe that SUMMER brings – it can be far too easy to lose sight of YOU time – MOM time – BALANCE – and all the things you’ve worked for leading up to summer summer summer TIME because, well you’re just out of the norm.

A teacher?
A doctor?

I’ll be honest I didn’t have that ONE thing but I knew that I wanted to be SUCCESSFUL and figured I’d rock a fancy suit on the top floor of some big fancy building in NYC with a corner office!
I had a strong work ethic from the days of weekend babysitting as a 12 year old through double jobs in college through landing my big girl career in public accounting.
But then the unthinkable happened:
I. BECAME. A. MOM.
And guess what?
That office on the top floor was not important anymore.
I wanted TIME at home with my daughter.
And after working away her first two years we made the family choice to become a single family home after the arrival of our little guy.
It was hard.
The adjustment to SAHM life was hard.
I missed my independence
And did I mention being a SAHM was hard?
But then the unthinkable happened again and A NEW DOOR opened.
This new door was going to give me the opportunity to live in the best of both worlds.
To have some independence back but to still be MOM.
This opportunity came at a time that I wasn’t looking and never realized HOW MUCH I needed it.
And while my office -covered in pictures from my little Miss with paint stains on my desk compliments of my kids-is a far cry from that top office in the big Apple….I wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
I chose the path others run from because it’s DIFFERENT.
I wa willing to put the work in no matter what iteration thought because I BELIEVED in the business.
And you know what—that same opportunity is there for you too!

Hearing the amazing news that I was SELECTED as one of the participants in the SHIFT SHOP TESTGROUP was like a dream come true.
Then I looked at the calendar – Round 1 started with the week of my son’s birthday & Round 2 started with a week long vacation with our friends and family.
I immediately thought of the hurdles but quickly turned it around and imagined:
How good would it feel to not only get AMAZING results leading up to our beach vacation but to actually come home from that trip with those SAME RESULTS!?!?
I don’t know about you but even with a very healthy balanced lifestyle, I will admittedly work *extra* hard leading up to an event and let the food and emotions run wild once the big day/trip comes.
It seems silly – I mean why work so hard to undo it?
How great would it be if you didn’t come home from vacation with guilt and another long(er) road ahead of you?!?!?!
And so…that’s just what I did!
I wrapped up Round 1 of the Shift Shop testgroup nearly 5 pounds lighter and with increased confidence which propelled me into a 2 day travel trip and week long trip at the beach with habits in tact and goals that couldn’t be squashed!
Was I perfect?
Nope! Not at all.
But I stuck to my guns and never felt like I was missing out or “couldn’t” eat what everyone else was eating. I simply ate what my body craved and if I wanted to taste a bite of ice cream or sample the mac and cheese I did – but you know what…I never felt the need for more than a taste!
So how can YOU go on your next vacation or weekend getaway without reversing the work you put in beforehand:
PACK SNACKS for the car. And no I’m not meaning bars and pretzels! My road trip snacks included:
Cut up apple for easy drive/snacking
Red peppers
Over hard eggs
Roasted veggies
Shakeology and coconut water filled shaker cup
Strawberries
Fruity gum
Allow your friends to know you’re working on becoming a healthier version of YOUand if they’re truly your friends they will support YOU
2 words: SPARKLING WATER
There were adult beverages going down but you know what – I never had ONE! And I didn’t feel I had to! I sipped a sparkling water of choice and still had a blast at game night, watched the PENS playoff hockey game and lounged by the pool without feeling like I was missing out on the fun! Because I didn’t want it. I didn’t want the extra calories and when you don’t WANT it you don’t feel like you’re MISSING a thing!
Plan to workout daily
PICK A TIME: While I was initially thinking I would get up at 6 and work it – I didn’t! I talked to my hubs who was cool with us enjoying the morning for as long as it would last until the littles woke up – so we did!!! Some mornings I got them breakfast before I pressed play some mornings he took the reigns. They were up by 7 each day – but I enjoyed the no alarm. But each morning I had some company with me and you know what – I LOVED it!!!
THE POINT: Just make sure you DO IT. Pack weights or a resistance band if you need it or go with a no equipment workout like CORE DE FORCE or PIYO and keep moving!
Grocery shop
Obviously your storage situations will vary but with our beach trip we were in a house! The kiddos and I stopped at the farmers market on the way down and then hit up the grocery store once we got there. On pizza night I ordered a salad. On Taco Tuesday I whipped up a Taco Salad and splurged on a few chips – key word: FEW. When we did the steamer buckets I fried some eggs and enjoyed leftover veggies!!!
Drink your Shakeology daily
Not only does it help with cravings but its an easy meal to pack and make and can be enjoyed any time of the day! It was breakfast a few times, lunch a few times and even a late night snack one night! This is one meal/snack that feels like a splurge BUT ISN’T so enjoy it when you can!

2 weeks down and 1 to go before the “official” ROUND 1 of Shift Shop is in the books and my goodness all I gotta say is IT FEELS GOOD to be a challenger again!
Being a part of this test group has been amazing on many different levels but mentally – I needed to go back to square one and this is getting me there.
SHOP RULE: Don’t let the move finish you. You finish the MOVE.
To measure my foods again – CONSISTENTLY.
To make a plan and STICK TO IT
To be faced with temptations and PROUDLY turn them down because I have COMMITTED to becoming a better version of me.
The program is designed to “ramp up” each week. So you’re switching up the meal plan AND increasing the intensity and length of the workouts.
Week 1 was a combo of 25 minute strength and cardio based workouts and week 2 brough it up to 35.
The beginning of week 2 also re-emphasized what I too often tell others and needed to remind myself: THE SCALE LIES!
By day 9, I wasn’t feeling that my “results” – aka – the number – was matching my efforts (after GAINING a pound back I found myself discouraged) but instead of getting upset about it – I took my pictures. And well they show the story I am feeling.
Just 9 days in I was feeling lighter, far less bloated (which I attribute to the consistent avoidance of GLUTEN!!) and the need for an afternoon caffeine energy boost was no longer needed.
Meals and snacks prepped for the day: Shakeology and water, Turkey burger and veggies, Apple and almond butter, Red peppers and hard boiled eggs
I traveled over the weekend and it was actually EMPOWERING to have my meals & snacks packed for the day AND stick to them, rather than caving for whatever convenience foods were at my fingertips.
What I love about the meal plan guide you get with this program is the SIMPLICITY. I don’t mind eating the same foods throughout the week and this plan is structured to give you the same “plan” to follow M/W/F/S and then again T/TH/S. It works – it makes planning and shopping EASY and I am really finding my groove.
Week 3 continues with the ramp up progression as our workouts are taken to 45 minutes and the meal plan is adjusted to eliminate yellows (carbs) — (for the calorie bracket I fall into) and increasing greens (veggies) and reds (proteins).

I did find myself looking for a bit more healthy fats (with the avocados and nuts) but honestly the carb reduction has been way easier than I expected! And different from other plans I’ve done that cut carbs and increase proteins/greens…I get to keep my fruits in with this plan – which is huge for me!!!

I left the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana yesterday with a relaxed mind and grateful heart.
This was the THIRD Success Club trip my husband and I have earned since becoming a coach 3 years ago but each one provides a gentle reminder of how grateful I am that just 3 short years ago I followed my gut feeling – became a coach – instilled BELIEF in myself and JUST JUMPED! And we have truly NEVER looked back!
Big picture – we EARNED this trip because of the success my coaching business achieved in 2016 for HELPING other PEOPLE reach THEIR health and fitness GOALS.
What started as a way to get a discount on my Shakeology grew to sharing this opportunity with my close friends and family and has transpired into helping HUNDREDS of women & families all around the US and Canada and I’m no where near finished.
I’ve been going on 3 trips annually through coaching – one in each the Spring, Summer and Fall.
The fall one which is earned and geared towards leadership.
The summer one is our Coach Summit & open to all coaches
And this one in the Spring is earned and limited to a select number of coaches.
While each have their own purpose and involve a combo of work and play this one is really geared towards celebrating your own successes and mingling with other coaches. And that is just what we did!
Our 5 days included a mix of US time and TEAM time and NETWORKING time. All with their own defined purpose and enjoyed to no end!
The one thing I never realized I was getting when I joined this business was the FAMILY you become a part of.
I love our team culture and the women I have grown to know, love and vacation with!
We enjoyed lots of time by the pool, listening to the waves crash, cruising the open waters on a Catamaran and mingling with our friends at the welcome and closing ceremonies.
But let’s be real – you can’t have a Team Beachbody trip without some killer workout sessions!
Both Autumn Calabrese & our brand new super trainer, Chris Downing joined us here on this trip and led group workouts each morning.
Autumn did a variety of workouts from her programs, 21-day Fix & Hammer & Chisel and Chris gave us some sneak peeks into the new program coming soon – SHIFT SHOP.
I love all live workouts but the fact that I get to participate in the EXCLUSIVE test group starting May 8th and get to complete it before it available to public drew my focus and excitement through the roof.
His style is so incredibly MOTIVATING and well, the workouts make you WORK! They’re different and all moves include a modifier so they really appeal to a large audience!!!
I can already tell that this program is going to take the fitness world by STORM this summer and I cannot wait to share my results as I progress through!

And just like at home, we were able to wrap up the workout sessions with our superfood shakeo – stationed all over the lobby after each workout!
This trips are always a great reminder to follow your heart and live your life doing something you LOVE. I love what I do and who I do it for and I truly cannot imagine what my life would look like today – If I hadn’t decided to take this road less traveled, join an MLM business and become my own CEO.

On a recent trip through downtown, as we approached the noteworthy views of the Pittsburgh city skyline my daughter exclaimed “Look mommy your old work building” – and she turned to Colt and shared “Mommy used to work there but she didn’t get to see me very much”
And while that comment half tugged at my heart strings and left me filled with guilt – because I did in fact MISS the majority of her first two years of life – it also was a gentle reminder…to give gratitude that many years ago – I followed my heart.
I left my career behind with no back up plan so I could be a more present mom than I had been the two years prior and a just a year after that found this opportunity.
I didn’t realize it then but looking back I now BELIEVE this opportunity was INTENTIONALLY placed in front of me because this is where I am meant to be.
I was a working mom THEN and I am a working mom NOW…but its different.
The career of coaching was never something I sought.
I had no idea the term “network marketing company” even existed but that’s what I joined…I signed up and I have never looked back.
3 years in – and I am leading a top team in the entire COMPANY – grateful that I followed my heart.
I ditched the desk job and took the road less traveled.
I traded in my suit pants for yoga pants.
And while my rise and grind time still starts at 5am – my days look much different than they did a few years ago.
It has taken many late nights and early mornings but I designed the life I love…
A life that led me to find a NEW FOUND passion in life
A life that allows me to continuously help others while always working on becoming a better version of myself
And a life that allows me to be PRESENT in the lives my family – of my children and with my husband.
I realize that this job isn’t for everyone but I learned a few years ago – that this glass slipper, or shall I say nike – FITS…so we roll with it.

It was 3 years ago today that I ***GULP*** made it public and launched my “coaching business” to the world 🌎
I made a public post on social media INVITING my friends and family and followers to join me in this journey…a journey that was shaping and impacting my life in ways I never imagined but absolutely LOVED at the same time!!!
It was a request to commit to:
The accountability of a challenge group.
To replace one meal a day with Shakeology.
And too follow a fitness program…and to track/document/see how it could IMPACT them!
It started with one person.
Then the next month two.
Then the next month more and more…
And as I continuously SHARED what I was doing and the pride I had sharing my experiences with other women-and other moms-it began to grow.
As of today, I have had the honor of helping hundreds of people get started on their health and fitness journey and while I’m humbled to share that — I know it’s just a small dent in what I am capable of.
Finding balance amongst the madness isn’t always easy but that’s where I come in!!!

Need a simple side dish but trying to avoid going carb crazy?!
We are LOVING cauliflower fried rice but I do believe there are good approaches to this simple little dish and not so good!
My best tip: KEEP IT SIMPLE!
Here’s what we found to rock our world:
WHAT YOU NEED:
3 cups riced cauliflower
1 TBS coconut oil
2 TBS slivered almonds
2 TBS fresh parsley
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Heat coconut oil over medium high heat
When hot, add riced cauliflower and sauté for 5-7 minutes or until it reaches your desired tenderness (note the color of the cauliflower will change slightly as it cooks…I used that as a guide!)
Top with the almonds and parsley and SERVE & ENJOY!
Note: We paired this with meatloaf for a classic, home cooked combo that warmed the tummy but didn’t grow the waistline!!!

A then random connection on social media – turned into a challenger in my challenge groups – turned into one of the most INSPIRATIONAL women I’ve ever met.
Cheryl has had an incredible journey and I am honored to share it today…
In November 2012 her right arm was amputated and miraculously saved and replanted. She has no bicep, 1/2 a tricep and limited use of her hand. She had lost 60 pounds and then started having surgeries again and gained 40 back.
She is someone who enjoys exercise but needed help to get going again. That’s where I came in!!!
She knew she couldn’t always do all the moves of all the programs but she was willing to get STARTED – TRY – and use the nutrition program and daily Shakeology to fuel her body.
She had struggled with emotional eating but found exercise fills that need and she began to THRIVE…

I’m off the insulin, the blood pressure meds, the anxiety and depression meds….I’m HEALTHY, HAPPY and have met some amazing, supportive women who have my back….. all I had to do was get over myself and honestly give the process a chance.
