What is Coach Summit?
The Team Beachbody Coach Summit is an annual event open to ALL Team Beachbody coaches at ALL levels to come together for the latest updates & announcements, live workouts, trainings, and a chance to truly CELEBRATE the impact we make as coaches closing with a night of celebrations including the annual $100K Beachbody Challenge winners!
The event spans 3 days and varies in location. The 2017 Coach Summit was held in New Orleans, LA.

So how does the event work:
The event “kicks off” with the opening night on Thursday but the hubs and I arrived on Tuesday evening to make sure we had enough time to soak in the NOLA city, get ready for the busy days events, and attend the exclusive ELITE party on Wednesday.
One thing my company does well is RECOGNITION!
And for my fellow 210 coaches out of nearly 400K coaches in 2016 who achieved the benchmarks set forth for “ELITE” – we received a special evening the night before summit kicked off!
We had an exclusive shopping experience where our 2017 ELITE gifts were unvelied
Followed by en evening at the Sugar Mill with music, great food, and great company!
Thursday included a morning training session, a fabulous lunch at Meril with my team, and then the big kick off!
Friday morning was our first LIVE workout and we got to experience Chris Downing, creator of the brand new program SHIFT SHOP! I’ve had the honor of working out live with him a few times but for many this was their first experience!
I got to experience the day with my mom, my husband and my best friend! Talk about BUSINESS PERKS!

Nothing quite challenges you the way a GIANT group workout session does. Days later and I still feel that one!
Friday night’s actvities started with a Leadership party that I had qualified for. I love these events but more so love that I get to bring my husband along to it all!
The party was held at Mardi Gras World & Mansion where all the floats are made for the big Mardi Gras parade each year in New Orleans! The venue alone was amazing, not to mention the food trucks, bands, entertainment and decor surrounding us all!
We were late to bed but early to rise for the annual LIVE workout!
At nearly 54 years old my mom rocked out all 90 minutes of the live workout with me in extreme heat and humidity – YES YOU CAN TOO!
Yes – LIVE workout – in the streets of NOLA.
We actually get the city to shut down entire STREETS so we can take over and SWEAT together. We had mini workouts from all of the trainers – Tony Horton, Autumn Calabrese, Joel Freeman, Jericho McMatthews, Shaun T, Chris Downing and Sagi. I don’t believe I have EVER sweated so much in my LIFE – nor had that much fun as we swarmed the streets at 5:30am for a 90 minute killer workout!!!
We continued our training sessions Saturday hearing from NY times best selling author, Darren Hardy and social media and business entrepreneur Chalene Johnson before wrapping up our general sessions and preparing for the closing celebrations!
It was an absolute honor to walk across that stage and represent my team as a 2x ELITE coach in 2017!
And while all the recognition was AMAZING the most heartfelt part was the final celebration recognizing the Beachbody Challenge winner!
This is where you TRULY SEE what we do — How we IMPACT the lives of others.
With each story shared, each triumph celebrated & each obstacle overcome it comes back to our MISSION to help others achieve THEIR goals and I wouldn’t want to be associated with any other company out there!!!

We are one week into our exclusive coach test group and as someone who got into this business as a CHALLENGER turned COACH 3 years ago…
It feels pretty darn good to back to the basics – back to where it came from and truly just be a CHALLENGER again.
I learning right there alongside every one else…
I’ve dusted off my portion fix nutrition containers and I have been on POINT with my meals and while its no secret – this is truly the KEY to your RESULTS!!!
Within a few days I already noticed my wedding rings more loose without the foods that typically cause inflammation in my body and while there were (admittedly) a few days where this mama was HANGRY by 8pm – that has subsided and the nutrition outlined in the program is exactly what I need to stay energized and fueled for my day!

I did decide to add back the post workout RECOVER to my daily routine.
This was one thing that helped me survive Hammer & Chisel when it was first released and while I typically avoid dairy and this has whey protein – I am finding this super helpful to reduce muscle soreness!
My husband has been following along right there with me and we are enjoying the challenge TOGETHER. Especially on those mornings where 1 or both of us struggle to jump out of bed!
First week thoughts:
We are sore but loving the changes we are seeing
There is the unknown which is exciting and challenging
This program, just like any new routine, takes DISCIPLINE
This program, just like any change in your lifestyle, takes preparation
But the RESULTS are beyond worth it!
What can you expect with this program:
Week 1 included alternating days of 25 minute Cardio and Strength training workouts with 2 core burn sessions…and burn they did!!!
Wrapping up with a rest day Sunday.

Whether its Easter or Christmas or vacations or Memorial day or Summer cookouts…a common question I get is how to survive the event/holiday WITHOUT totally derailing from current health and fitness progress.
And in my opinion there’s no cookie cutter answer.
Its what works for YOU but as chatted with some of my current challengers I decided it was probably best to aggregate everything into one place.
So here are my top tips:
1. PICK YOUR SPLURGE:
The common every day “snag the convenience store” type of things get – SKIPPED. The oreos, hershey bars, jelly beans (come on – starburst jelly beans are out year round!!) – and YES even the Reese cup eggs because let’s be real…they’re pretty much the same as a reese cup and not that special anymore as you can get hearts at valentines day and trees at Christmas, etc…
Now – Grandma’s special cookies or pie or delicious mashed potatoes that you don’t have or don’t make yourself…that’s a different story!
Things that you ONLY get at a certain time of year are when I deem – necessary splurges!
2. Drink your SHAKEOLOGY before you head out to a big family meal/gathering
This way you don’t arrive STARVING and inhale everything in sight – half of which you probably didn’t/won’t care for anyways. Allow yourself to arrive and simply spend time with the company there. After all – isn’t that why you’re there?
3. Take a dish you know you’ll ENJOY and meets YOUR health goals…and NO I’m not talking about raw celery sticks.
You can make some pretty darn amazing appetizers and side dishes and main dishes that are as delicious tasting as they are for you!
When it comes to actual Easter Sunday, we will be practicing BALANCE.
My mother in law makes THE BEST Monkey Bread (and no, there’s not a healthy lick to it) and we will balance that out with some scrambled eggs with veggies.
4. Enjoy the day – but don’t make it a weekend/week/month of it
Enjoying all your family favorites during Easter brunch or Christmas morning breakfast is a-okay…but you have to cut the sugar cycle.
I won’t pretend like cutting the sugar cycle is easy – but sugar is one of those foods that the more you eat the more you want and even when you crash or get a headache from the influx of sugar your body is trying to process, your mind will often leave you with the feeling that you want/need MORE.
We have our meals planned and splurges carefully picked out but I for me – the easiest way to get back on track is a quick REFRESH!
3 days – bloat gone – sugar cycle broken!
I’ll be kicking off Monday with a fresh group of challengers and I am super excited to have my hubby on board with me too!

I’ve never been one to go all fancy on my meatloaf but every now and then I get excited to try something new!
This meatloaf uses a “sauce mix” inside and on top of the meatloaf making it the perfect pair with last week’s cauliflower fried rice that we’ve been loving on!!!
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
2 eggs
1 onion, diced
1 15oz can crushed tomatoes
1 TBS fresh parsley
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
4 cloves minced garlic
3 TBS golden craisins (I know – sounds weird – trust me on this one!!!)
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Preheat over to 475
In medium sauce pan sautee 1/2 the garlic and onion for 2-3 minutes then add crushed tomatoes. Simmer 5 minutes
Combine 3/4 cup of sauce with ground beef, eggs, parsley, salt, pepper, crasins & remaining garlic.
Shape into a loaf on a foil lined baking dish and top with remaining sauce and bake for 30 – 35 minutes.
NOTE: Cook times will vary depending on the thickness of your loaf and your specific oven. Check frequently to make sure its cooking appropriately!

I will never forget that ding on my phone and the moment I opened up my messages to see this picture from one of my challengers – Shannon.
Shannon and I had connected just a few months ago as she was just started to exercise and looking for support.
Shannon was a busy mama of two working on her Masters of Social work and hooked on daily fast food! Breakfast may or may not happen because, well, “she just didn’t have the time”
— how many of you can relate to that?!
She was thinking that support of an accountability group may help her start making some healthier changes – not just for herself but her family too!
And with an upcoming WEDDING – she was ready to kiss that mom belly and muffin top GOODBYE!!!
Here’s what Shannon had to share:
“I joined my first challenge group in October 2016. I have always struggled with being consistent when it came to working out and knew something was missing. I’m a busy mom, social worker, student, fiancé, and soldier .. just to name a few. I’m sure many of you can relate to being and busy which leaves little time for yourself. The challenge groups have really pushed me to be accountable and offered a great support system. Even after a bad day or bad week the fellow group members were always there to offer words of encouragement and inspiration!

Time Hop reminded me that around this same time – 3 Years ago today I was asking for prayers as we were rushed to Children’s Hospital holding tightly to VERY sick little boy.
Now: You may be thinking: Soooooo: What does this have in common with the title “What is a Challenge Group: Live Look” – keep reading – there’s a connection I PROMISE!
That day was a WHIRLWIND!
Colt’s deteriorating health was dismissed as “a bad cold” before we got in to see HIS doctor the following day who quickly sent us by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh to ensure he got the best care.
We received his diagnosis: Pneomonia, double ear infection, bronchiolitis, and very high fevers.
We spent two tiring nights there and while my little man attempted to get comfortable and rest I simply watched him.
Sleep just wasn’t happening for me and eventually when he settled I grabbed the phone for a mindless midnight scroll.
And there it was…
