I am beyond excited to share that I am setting sail on an amazing adventure – on one of the largest ships to sail the waters with some of my closest friends, fellow health & fitness advocates, and of course my biggest supporter & #1 fan – my hubby – all as a result of helping others reach their own goals and continuing to pay it forward each and every day!

If you’ve ever been on a cruise or stayed at an all-inclusive resort for that matter you know how this goes.
FOOD. IS. EVERYWHERE – ALL THE TIME!
And while I realize there are going to be some indulgences, splurges, cocktails and more – I also know that the key to a successful, balanced, lifestyle is allowing yourself to unwind
AND
Setting yourself up for success upon return.
And that’s what this post is all about.

We have approximately 11 weeks until Memorial Day weekend.  This is the unofficial start of SUMMER, of the warmer weather and vacation season!
It is the season of shorts and dresses and tanks and oh yes, the sometimes dreaded but always needed bathing suit!
True story – As I began preparing for my cruise I already ditched 4 pairs of shorts from last summer, that, well, just don’t quite look the same – and I am vowing to myself…NO MORE!
It’s not to early to start…

I am getting ready to kick off my Spring Training Bootcamp on March 21st with Round 3 to follow in April.
My goal is get as many women and as many mamas ready for summer without the typical stress – without that restricted feeling that you can’t enjoy the family picnics and in a way that this becomes your way of LIFE and not just another summer “diet”.
Trust me – I get it!
Life is busy.
I have two littles of my own and totally get the idea that “there just isn’t enough time” but I am here to show how this is going to SAVE you time!
And while I am focused on balance and fun while on vacation…I am well aware that I am going to need a little jump start when I get back!
Not only am I going to be leading the group but I am going to be right there in the trenches with you!
  • We will spend 4 weeks together starting May 21st.
  • Week 1 will be our prep week followed by the 21-day challenge starting March 28th.
  • You will commit to 20-30 Minutes of exercise along with daily accountability through our group ran through a private app.

I had a little “girls night out” a while ago and we went to dinner in downtown Pittsburgh and we got the most amazing “Sprouts app”. They were so good – we ordered a second dish!!!

Yes – they were smothered in butter and oil and cheese and who knows what else but OMG – I couldn’t stop eating them…and I realized there had to be a healthier alternative!

Truth me told, I had tried Bacon Brussel Spouts in the past and Brown sugar sprouts and while they were OKAY – I never made them again. Just didn’t do it for me…but this little concoction HIT THE SPOT!!!

The key is turning them frequently so you get the little crunch!

WHAT YOU NEED:
-1 lb brussle sprouts, washed and halved
-1-2TBS Balsamic Vinegar
– 3 gloves minced garlic
– 2 tsp olive oil

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

-Preheat oven to 400 F
-Line baking sheet with foil
-Combine all ingredients into ziplock bag and shake
-Bake 30-40 min, stirring frequently (every 7-10min)

Serve with some Turkey Burgers, sweet potato fries and BAM – delicious dinner!

Crockpot Chicken Enchilada Soup

We love SALSA CHICKEN in this house…as well as CROCKPOT BUFFALO CHICKEN…but let’s be real, sometimes you just have to switch things up and a new crockpot meal always fits the mold!

What You Need 

  • 3lbs Chicken Breast (I keep frozen chicken ready for a quick easy meal but fresh is great of course too!)
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 Tablespoons Fajita seasoning (I use Wildtree brand but you can of course make your own combining chili powder, cayenne, cumin, oregano, etc…)
  • 1 Cup Salsa (no sugar added)
  • 2 cups Low sodium Chicken broth
  • 14 oz Diced Tomatoes (I have made this twice  – once using Rotel and once using plain diced tomatoes…I preferred the Rotel!)
  • 8 oz tomato paste (no sugar added )
  • 2 cups of spinach
  • 3 lemons, juiced
  • Optional: shredded cheese, plain greek yogurt, avocado

Crockpot Chicken Enchillada Soup

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: 

  • Line crockpot with a slow cooker liner
  • Add all ingredients
  • Cook on low for 6-7 hours
  • Shred chicken with a fork and serve!

Happy Valentines Day!

Yesterday we packed up the fam, joined forces with some friends and traveled to State College PA to visit a good friend, my business success partner, who has been hit with a few curve balls of life!

And well, you can’t surprise a friend on Valentines Day weekend without showing up with a little treat!

2016-02-13 10.25.28I have been trying to really limit my dairy intake after a recommendation from my dermatologist and she is on a gluten free diet so I decided to take the best of both worlds and whip up a new recipe of shakeo no bakes!

The cinnamon most definitely spiced things up and the rice krispies added a nice little crunch! See HERE for the full recipe.

And while the cookies were a hit and the day was a blast what I really came home focusing on is what I found at the bottom of that challenge pack box nearly 2 years ago.

Like I said above, this trip was to visit my business success partner – who is now one of my closest friends who I talk to on a daily basis.

But before we became really amazing friends, business building MOMpreneurs and a support system for each other – we were CHALLENGERS – together – in a CHALLENGE GROUP – trying to fight off those last few post baby pounds.

We both contacted our now coach, purchased the 21-day fix challenge pack, and got to work! We were bonded on that common goal and through the success of the group & reaching our goals we began to realize there’s so much more in that box than a workout program & meal replacement shake. We could pay it forward and share what we learned to help others!

We were challengers who found a passion for supporting one another and we became coaches. It wasn’t part of what I expected from that challenge pack box but what I soon realized is that I gained so much more than I bargained for!

Today we spend our time helping other MOMS and other WOMEN reach their health & fitness goals and build their own businesses from home. I finally feel like I have a purpose beyond someone else’s employee and beyond the roles of a wife and mom.

Clean Mocha Pudding

I love my sweets but I also love eating clean, fueling my body right and feeling the effects of superfoods and clean eats in my bod!

So how do I keep that sweet tooth satisfied?

I create little combos like this one!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1 “red” Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Scoop Cafe Latte Shakeology
  • 1 – 3 tsp All natural PB
  • 1-3 Tbsp Unsweetened Almond milk

OPTIONAL

  • Granola, Coconut flakes, chocolate chips

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

Now my husband has perfected the science behind the combo…and swears you HAVE to do it in this order. I on the other hand put it all in the bowl and mix it up!

  1. Measure one red container of plain greek yogurt and empty into a bowl
  2. Add desired amount of PB (1 tsp is plenty but my husband typically does 1 TBS or 3 tsp) and stir until combined
  3. Add 1 scoop Cafe Latte Shakeology and mix well
  4. Add a few splashes of unsweetened almond milk until you reach the desired consistency
  5. Top with desired toppings or eat as is!

ENJOY!!!

21-day fix/Hammer&Chisel/Insanity Max:30  container equivalents:

2 Reds, 1 tsp (I consider the splash of almond milk a freebie!) 

If you’re looking for a smaller meal or snack – simply half the greek yogurt and/or the Shakeology amount to reduce the reds. 

My husband falls into the highest bracket and will often do 2 reds of greek yogurt with one scoop cafe latte and 3 tsp PB – no milk. The combo options are yours!

Its easy to focus on the scale but I will be the first to say if that was my main focus I would have quit a long time ago.

I challenged my body.

And we celebrated the small successes along the way!

Yes, I’ll be up front and share that GAINED 3 pounds on this program. Did I want to gain 3 pounds? Nope, not exactly. But let’s be real here…muscle is dense my friends! When you build muscle and cut the fat that number may be a bit higher!! Besides – my hubby is enjoying the 3 pound gain and solid booty and it is my role to keep him happy right?!
After some reinforcement from my hubby – I did learn to switch my focus to the other gains.
I gained stregnth, endurance, balance, discipline and 60 early morning dates with my hubby.

I have flaws. I have room for improvement but my goodness this body carried and delivered two beautiful babies.
My nutrition was far from perfect (I am such a cookie monster!!!) and I know I let my travels and other things set me back but hey – progress is progress right!!!
I am healthy and I just completed a 60 day RIGOROUS training program. I am proud!
These other gains, my friends, far outweigh the scale increase any day!
Besides, having a program to complete TOGETHER with my husband was so much fun and a huge key to my success (yes, I am calling my 3 pound weight gain a success).

Not only did I have my incredible hubby cheering me on daily but my challengers kept me in tune and in CHECK! I know I couldn’t have done it with out them all!!!
But the fitness journey has no end destination!
Its full Cruise*Countdown mode in our house as we prepare for a journey to the Caribbean on a trip we earned through Beachbody – We are not stopping here!

Ahhh I can’t believe this weekend is finally here! Pittsburgh Market Council Super Friday prep

There’s been a lot of prep going on the background for months but our Beachbody Super Friday weekend has arrived and I have butterflies just thinking about all to come!

We have a jam packed agenda Friday night and a heck of a lot of recognition to endure as we have the Top Coach in all of Beachbody along with a 2x Top 10 coach, our CEO – Carl Daikeler and Celebrity Trainer Autumn Calabrease. And to cap the night we’ll be enjoying a live mashup by none other than Master Trainer Kam Niskach.

Its been such an honor being part of the Pittsburgh Market Council and being involved with all the planning and coordinating behind such a huge event!

We are sold out, leading the event in one of the most amazing places in Downtown Pittsburgh and I know we will not disappoint!

And while this excitement is swirling around in my head I am flashing back to last year’s event – one where I arrived as a star diamond coach with my hubby and just one coach on my team, my bestie.

Fast forward this year – I have coaches coming in from all across PA, OH, NC and even Canada! Wow – That little compound effect is amazing.

Dreams do come true if you have the courage to pursue them

Just thinking of how much has spiraled and transpired over the last year leaves with me this burning desire to get out there and share this opportunity with everyone I cross paths with! Its given me such a new outlook on life. How you can live out the most amazing life in balance, health and fulfillment!

And well, that’s only Friday night…

I have also been asked to present at a Dream Team led training Saturday morning along with a few of the BEST of the BEST coaches in the entire network.

Some of these ladies presented last year and I remember sitting there listening and absorbing thinking WOW – I can only imagine what that feels like to be up on that stage sharing their best practices and low behold there will be no imaging this year!

I’ll be living it and I’ll have my TEAM, my mom and my husband all there to support me.

If that doesn’t fill my cup I don’t know what does!

Then I get to spoil my coaches with some hair and make up pampering before we set off to enjoy a night of dancing and fun at the Lexus Club in Consol Energy.

We survived the HOLIDAYS – 30 day Hammer & Chisel results!

My husband and I are 4.5 weeks into Hammer and Chisel and all I can say is WE DID IT!!!!

With the new release of the workout program The Masters: Hammer & Chisel on December 1st I was beyond tempted to “start in the new year”…however my very excited hubby said he was ready for a change and ready to go and since I am all too familiar with the power of an accountability partner, I couldn’t let him go at it alone!!!

So we decided we would start, do the best we could but still enjoy the holidays…aka EAT THE COOKIES, enjoy the parties and control the controllable!
And through 5 birthday parties, countless holiday get togethers, NYE and all that in between I am happy to say WE MADE IT!

Am I where I want to be?!

Well, no, not exactly.

But am happy with the progress?

Absolutely!

Even though I gained 2 pounds I lost 2 inches – which goes to show you this program can help you gain LEAN muscle!

I have been using the Beachbody Performance LineENERGIZE (pre workout) and RECOVER (post workout) daily which have been KEY in helping me get the most of out each workout and reduce muscle soreness. In addition I haven’t missed a day of my SHAKEOLOGY! Nutrition is key and while the holiday indulgences were there Shakeology played a huge role in making sure they didn’t get out of control, especially during the baking days!!!  For less than $4/meal you can’t beat that dense superfood nutrition!!!

The workouts are challenging and I KNOW the incredible results are coming but in all honesty – my nutrition wasn’t where it needs to be to get jaw-dropping results – but to make progress at a time when most Americans are gaining 7-10 pounds – I’LL TAKE IT!!!

I am getting stronger. My weights have increased and the 12 pounders that were collecting dust are now being tossed around with ease. One simple non-scale victory that helps reassure me – THIS PROGRAM IS WORKING!!!

As I look forward to the second half of this program I see our upcoming Beachbody weekend in the ‘Burgh – an entire weekend away from home and then two weeks later I’ll be off to LA for a Leadership conference.
